Interesting read. It often seems to me that people from a more pastoral culture like from a few hundred years ago were suddenly brought forwards in time and expected to behave in a civilized manner without the slightest clue how to actually do that. My wife was in a taxi in Israel one time when the driver stopped to fill up on gas. The next thing she knew, the driver and the gas station attendant were involved in a very heated argument. My wife thought there must have been some major problem between the two men and she happened to be present when they decided to resolve it. When the driver returned, she asked him if everything was OK. He said yes, they were simply haggling over the price of the fuel and drove away unphased as if the loud yelling match had never happened. Cultures!
