Yes or No? I believe that Republicans will never agree to this no matter what they say. If there is money to be made off of the backs of undocumented workers, Republicans will defend the practice tooth and nail. Republicans are not serious about stemming the tide of illegal immigrants because their supporters make too much money off of those that come here illegally. Your opinion?
I'd prefer a more open border, where migrant workers are allowed to come and go freely. I don't like the reasons behind the initial hatred Americans had for anyone below our Southern border, and I don't like the current reasoning either. It's always been a combination of things (fear, hatred, paranoia, and stupidity, for some) that dictates policy towards migrants though, not common sense. Some choose to stay, some don't. Some believe that those who are within our borders are a drain on our resources. I disagree. I believe we all benefit from their presence.
To answer your question though, I'd say "Yes". Employers should be punished for using cheap labor illegally.
Absolutely. Both large and individual. From the dishwasher in a chain restaurant to the gardener or nanny at someone's personal residence. All employers should be held accountable.
I feel that if employers were held accountable, it wouldn't matter if there was a tarred path from an illegal immigrants home to every major city in the US, there would be no incentive to come here. Until we address hiring these illegal aliens and put some teeth in the penalties for hiring them, we'll never stop people from coming here illegally. A highly regulated guest worker program would take care of the needs of businesses that can't hire US citizens willing to do the work. Our current system is beyond broken and serving no one's needs. Put politics aside and fix this.
That's just hell freezing over. The Apocalypse isn't scheduled until Dicky admits being wrong about anything.
