In the act of conception, sperm and egg join, being provided genetic materials from both parents, recombines and creates a unique DNA sequence for the child. Unique enough to be used in a court of law and matched to specific individual. Any claims that a fetus is part of the woman are totally erroneous, and should be dismissed. The fetus is a unique human being, hominoid, homo-sapiens with a different genetic make-up, and sometime even a different blood type than the mother. Being human and unique, the fetus should be afforded a minimal human right, the right of life, and should be protected from what I will term as casual abortion or abortion for birth control's sake. I am not arguing that extraordinary efforts be taken, or that an "at all cost" approach be taken for a troubled pregnancy, but a measured approach of what is best to protect the life, not life-style, of the mother. In conclusion, a fetus is a unique being, and should be afforded the prospects of life.

I have no idea why people would choose to abort an unborn child-in-the-making. Some people are cold-hearted and merciless, and women are no exception to that rule.

That's not true for all abortions though, as some women, some little more than children themselves, make the decision for a number of other reasons. Sometimes it's their parents making the decision, other times it's a decision made after weighing the pros and cons. In a lot of cases, that decision haunts them their entire life.

Political-affiliation doesn't have much impact on that either, as republicans assume they are immune to having one of their own choose to have an abortion. They're wrong, of course, as many republican women, young and old alike, choose the procedure, but hide that information from their families and friends.
