Robert- Prepare yourself. If you pay attention to their previous posts, it won't be long before you're attacked for believing in Jesus. Just give 'em time.
I think not but thank you for your polite response. If I tell you do not pick up that big common snapping turtle, take my word for it. I think people like to hear about personal experiences. I know I do.
Are you paying attention to some of the other threads? I gave the Christian bashers a little bit of a nudge and they piled on. Too easy.
He's not entirely incorrect, Robert. However, I am sincere when I say I welcome you here without hatred or fear.
Well the Pope is in the U.S. As most of you know I am not a highly religious man but that is MY choice. Robert has his choice as do ALL of us. If faith gets you through the day then good for you I say and actually mean it. Now back to the Pope. Obviously a man of great importance in this world. I would like to say that in my humble and obviously not Catholic opinion that he is awesome! Not that I've ever disliked a Pope but Pope Francis will always stand out for me. He addresses real issues in a real and current way. Some might even say he uses the teachings of the Bible as his guide!
No, I think you misunderstand. At least in my case I view most people who identify as Christian as relatively benign and easy to get along with, although they claim to believe in things that I find improbable and highly peculiar. Sometimes I comment on these beliefs simply because they are improbable and highly peculiar and since they are freely and unashamedly expressed it is fair to do so. The Christians I "bash", in the other hand, are Christians like you. And Kim Davis. And that buffoon from the Catholic League, William Donohue. People like that. The not insignificant minority who've hijacked the Christian brand and made it synonymous not with harmless eccentricity but with bigoted parochialism, control, and the melding of church and state.
Amazing how the more closely a pope seems to adhere to the spirit and the letter of the Gospels, the less the Republicans like him. I guess the vindictive and bloody tyrant of the OT is more their style.
I won't bash any church in the United States except for the Westboro Baptist Church. I would tar and feather those people and run them out of the United States, perhaps to Syria or North Korea.
Well only your god knows that, which is another way of saying only you know that. But based on what you wrote in another thread, it looks to me like you are the type of Christian who believes that a public servant on the government payroll may use her own personal religious beliefs to determine who she and her staff will serve and who they will not serve and which laws she and her staff will obey and which ones they will not obey. If not that, you do appear to think that it is an open question whether Biblical "law", however and by whomever it may be interpreted, does or does not trump the Constitution. For those who believe in a secular society which guarantees freedom for people of all religions as well as freedom for those who have none at all there can be no question of whether "church" or state should prevail.
Yeah, but you made the comment...and made it personal...so I'd kinda like to know what you meant. Don't be a coward, tell me what you meant. And, what did I write in that other thread that would lead you to make any statement concerning my religious beliefs?
