The mainstream media’s showing us just how fake the news really is.

I'm saying it should be a crime. Does your statement here conversely mean if it were Trump you would say it was totally fine?

Let's get our facts straight. Trump didn't crank out more scandals per day than any other president in recent memory. The Democrat Party did that.

Perhaps he lowered the bar for what constitutes a scandal then

A government cannot legislate social justice, equality, and opportunity?????? Seriously? You actually believe what you just wrote? I'd like to clue you into one reality that has been going on for centuries in this country. The government has been legislating social injustice, inequality, and opportunity for specific groups forever. There are too many examples of this practice to even begin to list. You can't possibly believe what you just said. Or you simply aren't thinking clearly. The bootstrap manta fails miserably when the system is set up against you.

I certainly didn't illustrate that clearly. I'll just say it this way. A man can accomplish far more on his own than he can accomplish with legislated assistance.

My more outspoken left side can't help but latch onto the bolded text.

That's the exact same thing progressives have been saying, just rephrased a bit: by design, our current system ensures subjugation of the masses by allowing them neither the time nor energy to stand up to injustice, under the implicit threat of basic needs insecurity.

I appreciate that. But I just cannot make this OK in my mind. I cannot see any man or woman becoming a better, more confident, happy and fulfilled person when their basic needs are given to them. Wouldn't that simply breed self apathy?

Thanks for the clarification. The independence of the American attitude is well known. It has resulted in many innovations, prosperity, and economic advantages without a doubt. More recently, it is used as a whipping post to chastise the bulk of the population that hasn't traditionally benefitted from the advantages afforded to the privileged upper class, I know, because I have also benefitted from this privileged status. I think the real difference between us is that I recognize my status in society and can see the ladders that have been provided to me while you believe that you built those ladders and then climber them. Those ladders existed long before you were born and they were build specifically for your class. Whether you choose to climb those ladders is of course your propagative but recognizing that those ladders are not there for everyone leaves you with two choices. You can make sure that everyone has access to the ladders or you can pretend that they are available to everyone else in spite of the reality that they aren't. As a Democrat, I prefer to believe that any ladder available to me should be available to everyone else. It's up to them to climb that ladder or not but I will not fault them for achieving less than I have achieved when I know that their ladders were pulled out from under them.

One glaring example is The Tulsa race massacre (also called the Tulsa race riot, the Greenwood Massacre, the Black Wall Street Massacre, the Tulsa pogrom, or the Tulsa Massacre) took place on May 31 and June 1, 1921, when mobs of white residents, many of them deputized and given weapons by city officials, attacked black residents and businesses of the Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has been called "the single worst incident of racial violence in American history." The attack, carried out on the ground and from private aircraft, destroyed more than 35 square blocks of the district—at that time the wealthiest black community in the United States, known as "Black Wall Street".

This is just one example of how this country has systematically kept minorities from achieving what the privileged class was allowed to have. Notice the government help they received.

And when people do stand up to it, they are rioters, looters, arsonists, criminals, and every other evil condemnation that can be applied. They are once again beaten into submission by those that want to retain their privileged status and those complicit with that goal, knowingly or unknowingly, and I would go with the former not the latter in most instances.

Hardly convincing to me when the example you bring to support your statement is a hundred years old. "Yeah, but slavery....."

Randy tells it like it is in the real world for people of all colors.

Not a very imaginative nor even a reality-based criticism to me.

I don't know, I get what you're saying, but I almost think people are more motivated when they can work for goals they actually want instead of working for mostly necessities. It also allows people flexibility to advocate for themselves, work on new skills, and take risks.
