Suppose, like in the movie, a virus kills 93% of the worlds population in a few short weeks. Most, if not all of your family and friends died in that time. The questions is would you rather be part of the 93% that are gone or the 7% left alive and why? I think that how you answer says a lot about who you are as a person.
This is a really good question !!! I have not seen or heard of themovie you refer to, but I would rather be 7% alive. That would be the only way to save and rebuild humanity.
If none of my family is in the 7% then I can't see myself wanting to be either. If even one is in the 7%, then I absolutely would want to be in the 7%. So, not knowing that, I would have to choose to be in the 7% to start off with.
Given the choice I would stay alive, I dont think that death is all that it is made out to be so would pass on the chance
Since this is a game of 'Suppose' let's take it one step further. If the Democrats hadn't came into power, and insisted that the Pharmaceuticals turn over all their research and profits to the federal government to manage, we wouldn't be playing this game. Every thing would be coming up roses and all of humanity would be better off by being able to procure immunization for the killer virus. In fact it would have been payed for by Medicare and even the older generation would have survived.
I think that if any of my family survived I'd want to be in the 7%. But if I was the last one in my family, I wouldn't see the point. Let the cock roaches have a turn.
Let them take their turn, the Democrats were there first and there may not be enough of the carcass left to attract roaches!
Too old for that kind of activity. Let the young have at it. Besides, what would be in it for the kids I created? They would have to live in a hellish world and why is it so important that the human race survives anyway. Isn't it all up to God in the end anyway?
This will date me, but this thread topic reminds me of a cpl movies I saw as a kid.....Soylant Green and The Omega Man, both with the evil ( if your a gun grabber) Charlton Heston, but thats another topic in itself.......
Yeah, the post apocalyptic genre has been beaten into the ground throughout the years. P.S. God created the virus.
I'm kinda glad that the people in the 1300's didn't decide life was too hellish to continue or question why it was important for mankind to survive. Of course, that was only maybe 2/3s of the European population. Life was probably pretty 'hellish' even before the disease hit back then...by our standards anyway. I am not sure why they wanted to continue in the first place. BTW: My bets are on some nut job animal rights group having created the virus in this thread.
Live, so I can help build the new society - and troll through all the empty houses in the neighborhood for good coins! ("Hey, so THAT'S where all the 1964D Peace dollars went!")
