You're not listening..."Same sex couples have ALWAYS been able to married". The only difference is whether or not their union is recognized by the U.S. Government...that's something entirely different.

I agree, that denying government recognition violates the notion "Equal treatment under the law". So the "remedy" is the only question to be answered. There are two (2) possible remedies...

1. Government recognition of same-sex marriage, or
2. Government getting out of the Social Engineering business (meaning, eliminate all government subsidies promoting marriage).

Since the U.S. government is not authorized to engage in social engineering, Option #2 is the only choice.

You are purposefully trying to make an inane argument. What I said that you are veering wildly away from is that Democrats made same-sex marriage possible. That includes all the privileges and responsibilities that go along with the change in the law. That was the point of changing the law so that we didn't have another separate but unequal situation. SAME-SEX PARTNERS HAVE NOT ALWAYS HAD THE RIGHT TO MARRY NO MATTER HOW BIG AND RED YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE IT.

Republicans hated it, fought, and eventually capitulated to the reality that they couldn't use the Constitution as a weapon to beat gay couples with. You're talking about government benefits...just be honest about it. You're also talking about using the U.S. government to promote a lifestyle. It's not the government's role to promote ANY social lifestyle...gay or straight.

Also, major Democrats didn’t even support it themselves. Including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and probably plenty more. So don’t act like Democrats have been all gay friendly for our entire lives.

Obama switched because he thought he would build his invincible coalition. Not so invincible, was it? Trump tore it apart. I’ve met more gays shifting to the right, black Americans voted for trump in higher rates than 2016, and Hispanic Americans did as well. Especially Cubans who know exactly the game that Democrats have been playing.

 

The Supreme Court doesn't "give" anything. It only affirm what we already have.

 

If your goal is to manage the environment in the U.S....then you should be in favor of boarder control, a Constitutional Immigration policy, and the end of taxpayers promotion of irresponsible child bearing.

1912 Roddenberry D-GA. proposes a Constitutional Amendment tp prohibit interracial marriage. Then Wilson - Dem. - POTUS, doubles down in 1913 with the Federal Anti-Miscegenation Law.
