I had to do some research to understand this one. Has everyone lost their minds?

"Jada, Can't Wait For GI Jane 2": Why This Joke Outraged Will Smith
Ocars 2022: This is not the first time that the comedian has taken pot-shots at Jada Pinkett Smith. He had done that while hosting the Oscars in 2016.

Oscars 2022: Chris Rock has decided to not file a police complaint against Will Smith.

The trigger was a joke cracked by Rock about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith and her shaved head.

"Jada, can't wait for GI Jane 2," said the comedian. The comment infuriated Will Smith, who walked up to the presenter and punched him.

After returning to his seat, the actor was heard screaming, "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth."

Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about her decision to shave her head a few years ago, revealing on her talk show her battle with alopecia areata.

    Who is "GI Jane"?

"GI Jane" is a 1997 movie starring Demi Moore as Jordan O'Neil, the first woman to undergo Navy Seal training, even outperforming many of her male counterparts during the preparation.

O'Neal, in order to solidify her position as a Navy Seal, shaves her head, becoming "GI Jane". In the process, she completely hides way her femininity.

Rock took reference from Moore's character, making a joke about Pinkett Smith's buzzcut.

After the incident, netizens and top celebrities across the world flooded social media with their reactions.

"At your highest moment ...be careful that's when the devil tries to come for you," singer Cardi B said on Twitter.

Comedian Trevor Noah wondered if the altercation between Smith and Rock was staged. "Wtaf????? That wasn't scripted," he tweeted.

According to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the comedian has decided not to file a police complaint against Will Smith.

Chris Rock has targeted Pinkett Smith in the past

This is not the first time that the comedian has taken pot-shots at Will Smith's wife. While hosting the Oscars in 2016, Rock mocked Pinkett Smith for boycotting the event due to a lack of diversity amongst the nominees, claiming that she was not even invited.

In response, Pinkett Smith said she wants to "keep it moving" beyond the jokes.

We are on the cusp of war.... And self absorbed Hollywood stars that stage an award ceremony punch to get TV ratings is what dominates the news. I would rather watch him punch the alien in Independence Day.

toughcoins Rarely is the liberal viewpoint tainted by realism

Who cares . . . it hate those award shows nowadays anyway. They used to be strictly about performance and have been hijacked as yet another way to push political opinion one way without suffering the embarrassment of an opposing argument.

Yeah...I'm seeing a lotta speculation that this was a ratings set up. Will Smith seemed convincing after he sat back down, though. If that was an act..."Best Fake Bitch Slap" should become a new category. :)

It seems that many people are of the same mindset. That is a major factor for why ratings for these events keep dropping. So the ratings ploy idea is a strong possibility. Instead of ignoring the event or lamenting about it being highly politicized, people will be discussing the slap.

Two of the better jokes I've seen so far regarding this:

"Jussie Smollett is saying Will Smith hit him too"
    (Sam Morril on Twitter)

"Glad Chris Rock didn't tell a joke about Alec Baldwin's wife."
    (Jon Gabriel on Twitter)

Makes one wonder if Will would have acted the same if The Rock was on stage instead of 130# Chris Rock?

Since the subject was sort of raised, but not answered, I would like to know if she would consider the Leading Role in a remake of "G.I. Jane"? It was a fun popcorn movie. I would watch an update. Mr. Smith could play the evil dastardly Cadre', and Mr. Rock could play the sympathetic boyfriend.

Will Smith should at least let Chris Rock shoot a can off his head with a paintball gun...

NOW...the interesting part begins! After Alec Baldwin shot his Director and Cinematographer and now "The Slap Heard Around The World", the Hollywood fantasyland is confronting harsh Reality.

The question is...how does the Academy of Motion Pictures keep their fantasyland going while protecting their members? If this is OK...can anyone bitch slap anyone on stage they find offensive? If so, there are a whole lotta actors I wanna slap! ;)

At the moment just before he pulls the trigger, Reality can go in one of two (2) directions. This is the chosen direction. I feel we're at the same moment...daring Putin to pull the trigger...with no idea of how to respond.

Let him pull the damn trigger and lets get it over with, so I don't have to suffer the Joe Nations and Gene Wrights of the world with their superiority complexes, anymore.
