The condescending manner in which you talk down people of faith. It ranks right up there with patting a little boy on the head when he acts like a "big boy". If everyone saw this world as you or I do, it would be a mighty boorish place so we tend to learn in kindergarten to accept as equals those around us that don't look, think, or act the same as ourselves. Not doing so is the very definition of bigotry.
If you feel condescended to, I am sorry for making you feel that way. Not my intention. I only express the way I feel about any issue based on my experiences, just like anyone else here. I don't generally take into consideration how my opinions make others feel. It isn't particularly advantageous in forums such as this to side with those that consider you an enemy. Outside of a highly divisive environment like this place, I have no problem with people of faith. Heck, I even have gone to a few Unitarian services in recent weeks even though I do not believe anything they preach. My son sings in their choir, so I go to listen to him. Point being, if you want civil discourse that involve less feelings of condescension, this probably isn't the place to be. Ultimately, how you feel or don't feel is up to you, but again, I am sorry to make you feel condescended to.
Interesting. Your entire life is based upon your feels and what you’ve experienced. In truth, no one cares how you “feel” and your “experiences” in life are as different from mine or anyone else’s as the man in the moon. Who are you to say that God doesn’t exist simply because YOU haven’t experienced him? I’m certain there is an immeasurable amount of things in life you haven’t experienced. If we, as a society, based our beliefs on the experiences of a single person on this planet named Theodore Moen, we would be an ignorant, pathetic society. Thankfully, each one of us has our own feelings and experiences which shape our beliefs as individuals. If you want to believe in God or not believe in God based on your own feelings or experiences, that’s fine. It doesn’t, however, negate the feelings or experiences of others which are equally valid.
You are so confused it is staggering to ever converse with you on any rational level. I pity you. But careful. It's a long way to the ground from that high horse.
Typical @JoeNation dodge, duck, and run comment when he is backed into a corner and cannot defend his belief. Try to converse and prove you are not IGNORANT. The poster made a sensible comment. Engage if you can Joe.
Gawd has not been proven to exist. No one needs make the claim you try but fail miserably to impute. No one has to say he doesn't exist. The claim of existence fails all by its lonesome for lack of proof. Go back and do logic. It is not incumbent on anyone to negate anything. Proving that falsehood is false not required. It is default false unless proven/substantiated. That is why science has things like null hypothesis, testing and logical reasoning. The thing proposed has to be substantiated, and Gawd is not. therefore not valid. I have explained this previously, apparently it didn't stick. and farmer, joe did a great job on your #35 so I'll just leave that alone. And this is still a good thread. So far no proof, and perhaps some beginning to understand why it will never be shown. Unless something really kool happens. Who knows it might ! just hasn't yet.
If you have never experienced God, then you have no knowledge from which to speak. Is that not a fair statement? But, that's OK. Ignorance of a subject doesn't equate to being stupid, it simply equates to not having knowledge of the topic. I can't think of any reason, though, why I would listen to a person who is ignorant on a topic. But, if you have knowledge of God, I'll gladly listen to your experiences.
You know…. There are cat people and there are dog people… Chocolate and vanilla people. Football people and theater people. Why is it that we have devolved to a point in the 21st century that we feel empowered to judge one another for our differences that we once celebrated? I been around enough to know that the negative things that may be thought of me are unimportant. I wake up each day and give thanks that I was born to a poor American mother rather than a poor Somalian mother. The thanks I give, I give to God. I then have coffee and then walk out on my porch to unfurl my American flag. Today is Sunday and I would typically be getting ready for church. Instead, I am taking my boy to a long awaited football game. I’ll get several calls this afternoon from friends worried that I may be sick. These are true friends and they won’t judge me….. You may choose to judge me for the way I choose to live my life, but then who is the better person?
AMEN! NEWS FLASH: No one gives a crap whether anyone believes in God or not EXCEPT the God fearing believers. They believe that the folks who reject the belief in "God" come to a bad end and do not wish that on anyone. They also know that folks without morals (like lying) do more bad things than people who profess to be moral and believe in a God. Some atheiests in the past have died for their non-belief. There is one thing for sure, each of us will eventually find out if we were right or wrong about the existance of God. I tell my atheist friend that if I were he, I would live my life as if He existed and except Him/Her/They/It into my life. I would not be a one percenter. Fortunately, God is forgiving. So IMO, those who are not introduced to Him through no fault of their own will be "saved" from all the things belivers are told will happen to unbelivers. Unfortunately, those who reject a God will be rolling the dice. Believers are told He has punished men before and have no reason to believe He will not punish men again.
Nor does anyone else given the factual reality of non existence outside of conjured up concept. So fair enough. Shut up. And yet you babble on about it. How odd. No claim here, and anyone claiming other wise is delusional.
Hey Chin-Chin, drag your hairy knuckles over to the This ? will expose the knowledge and veracity of active members. thread and see if I misjudged you. Prove that an Atheist can follow simple instructions and answer a direct question.
The confidence expressed in this comment is bigoted and obtuse and is nothing short of a useless opinion. You can choose to discount the many thousands of years of writings from men much wiser than those posting here at your own peril. Just know your opine is utterly useless in the context of this thread. I had hoped for better given the educational pedigree you boast of.
Your hope was misplaced. The "genius" was indoctrinated at PU. While his beliefs and opinions are personal (when he choses to leave one), the character he shows in the way he posts to Troll or avoid conflict indicates the failure of our education system. This young fella was indoctrinated during the "Johnny was raised by three multi-sexual queers era." Unfortunately, we must endure the results here.
Granted. I am fully aware of where this comes from. The thread was started for one reason.. To ignite a battle. This would be no different than had I begun a thread asking libs what their fascination was with transvestites.... They would froth at the mouth in an attempt to legitimize the behavior and I would sit back and laugh at the chaos that I created..... This was a lame attempt at personal entertainment at others expense. Nothing more than that and I want to expose it for the prepubescent blathering that it is.
Wrong as you so obviously are about this and most things at least you agree there is NO PROOF. Thanks for participating
You win, you win - OF COURSE THERE IS NO PROOF OF GOD! Any intelligent person knows this; however, some people have had some unusual interactions with "Something" they cannot explain and they may consider that proof enough for them. We don't question your opinion or call you a silly fool. One day you'll know if your opinion was right or wrong. Give believers the same tolerance for their opinion. Additionally, if you were actually a genius, you would know what the word "F A I T H" means. Thanks for participating,
Proof of G-d. Look in the mirror. There is life. Look in your heart- There is love. Now if you don’t want to believe that’s your business but why create hate for those who do?
That ^^ is full of it. In order to have logical discussions we need to eliminate the illogical and imaginary. Removing the imaginary often interjected as a crutch to a baseless argument is for the betterment of mankind. certainly you can visualize that, right?
What is imaginary about anything I stated? Are you not alive? As for now, I am.-Reality. Do you not have love in your heart? I have and will continue as long as my heart beats- Reality. For me. Both are miracles as well as gifts. All the proof I need. No need for religion for me to believe. If you choose not to believe Freshmeat, that is your option and I respect your viewpoint even if I don’t agree with it.
you stated g-d, we all know what you imply. That is imaginary as well as anything based on the concept. And the list & questions you present prove nothing. Check the title. it says PROOF. In caps so you shouldn't have missed that part. Get logical or give it up.
