My pet peeve. Freaking trial lawyers. I have never in my life seen so many television commercials for trial lawyers….. Hurt in a wreck? Drink water at the Marine base? I’m your best friend…. Phooey!!!! These leeches are precisely the reason that many small businesses cannot afford liability insurance. They are precisely the reason my auto insurance with a stellar driving record is $1500.00 annually…… These people are nobody’s best friend but themselves. Period…… Rant over. Sorry.

Do you ever wonder why outfits spend so much money advertising their product?

Really great products and services don't need advertising budgets. Happy customers do all of the advertising that is needed.

I suppose that you were just fine with all the Jesus commercials. I love it when religion is commodified.

Absolutely. Going to church is a choice. Paying my business liability insurance is not.

Again, it's always about your cash that provides your motivation. Money is a shallow desire even by religious standards but the one you seem to focus on the most.

I don't think you are really all that religious. I think you're just another greedy money changer.

Restaurant owner forced servers to return wages, keep only tips and $10 per week
A restaurant owner in Ohio is accused of forcing servers to pay their wages back to him in cash, allowing workers to keep just the tips they earned plus $10 a week, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

The DOL said in a news release servers and cooks at Los Mariachis worked an average of 60 hours a week.

Owner Ruben Lopez paid the cooks a straight salary for all 60 hours they worked weekly, denying them overtime wages due for hours over 40 per week, the DOL investigation found.

Authorities also determined the employer failed to keep accurate time and payroll records.

The investigation recovered $245,509 in back wages for six servers and 12 cooks at Los Mariachis.

“No server should be forced to work for just tips and $10 per week, and no cook should be paid straight time for 20 hours of overtime,” Wage and Hour Division District Director Matthew Utley said.

Just part of what's wrong with the restaurant industry here

Giving the IRS more resources to collect ligimately owed taxes benefits us all albeit not necessarily the tax cheats.

Well now wait just a second..... I distinctly remember a conversation not long ago. Were I digitally adept enough, I would find it for you.... You were quite adamant that all these thousands of new agents were hired specifically to address the billionaire tax cheats. In fact your comment to me was, "they have no interest in rinky dink operations like mine"... Funny how the storyline changes for the left to suit the headlines of the day.

I think your having a memory fart. Anyone! I mean anyone, cheating the tax collector is ripe for an audit. I have paid the taxes I owed my entire life without the whining and complaining you hear so often by people like you. If you owe, you should pay like most of us. Billionaires simply finance Republican campaigns to get them to create loopholes in the tax code so that these billionaires end up pay zero in taxes. They slant the tax code in their direction and get away with it. I'm against that. You are just fine with that.

Just wondering… Is it an inherent trait or a learned one to throw empty, baseless spitballs toward the opponent to see if one happens to stick?

Are you kidding? How's a contractor to public facilities supposed to secure work without being bonded / insured?

Actually, I vaguely recall the same as MD. Losing your marbles, are you?

We all pay our documented liabilities, as Uncle Sam eventually gets his due, one way or another. What of those who make undocumented income? I daresay there are far more of those to worry about . . . everyday folks selling drugs, gambling, selling cordwood, unlicensed daycare, peddling influence, etc.

I suspect MD's concern is over what he used to be able to afford to attract good employees with, and now cannot. His employees still expect the same, but now he must choose between paying more out of pocket, or possibly losing a good performer over the loss of that benefit.

And I'm sure you're fine with eliminating the deduction for educational expenses, the mortgage interest deduction, the deduction for health care expenses?

I had heard the term "elitist" associated with the left for years and hadn't been entirely clear on just exactly what that meant. My brain doesn't think that way.... However I do believe I have carved out a clear understanding of just exactly what an elitist is now.

    God Day, Dufus.

The IRS was not and is not needed. It is a DEPT. OF LABOR RESPONSIBILITY, AND THE DOL did the collecting.
    Jesus, you are dense.

Why do you bother? This is a conversation with air, absent the concept of reason or purpose.

Here's another term you can learn about instead of just living the definition: "Christofascism"

Christian fascism is a term which is used to describe a far-right political ideology that denotes an intersection between fascism and Christianity. It is sometimes referred to as "Christofascism", a neologism which was coined in 1970 by the liberation theologian Dorothee Sölle.
