If you remember the fascist thread said that gays, foreigners, liberals, and intellectuals are always targeted and the justification was always women and children. How are you any different than fascists?

 

There is no target other than the target you perceive in your mind to exploit. We are talking simple common courtesy here. Nothing more. You don't want to see me fondle my wife's breasts. I don't want to see you fondle your boyfriends package. How you guys can make something so simple and benign grow into such a brouhaha boggles the mind.

 

Define simple common courtesy if you can. I'm not sure it isn't just doublespeak for discrimination but I'd like you to define it so I can be sure. You're right, I wouldn't want to sit and watch two people of any gender combination fondle each other in public but that really isn't the problem. I've seen far, far more heterosexuals do exactly that in my life than I have ever seen homosexuals doing but for some strange reason, it just doesn't receive the same public outcry until it is gay couples doing exactly what heterosexual couples do. You know that it is true whether you admit it or not. And even if gay couples cross some public PDA line, think about how much discrimination they've had to overcome. I can forgive them for going a little too far and just look away. It isn't about me. And it isn't about you either.

 

That is quite simple and actually points to the root cause of why so many in our nation are seething with one another.... Quite simply it is being polite. If I hold the door open for a lady, she smiles and thanks me rather than admonishing me for being ignorant of gender equity.... If you want me to call you some pronoun, smile and tell me so rather than lashing out at me about it.... Any of another million examples. It is simply being polite to one another. Why we are unable to do that in 2023 is beyond me.

Politeness is a two-way street. If your behavior is based in intolerance towards some group or individual, how is that being polite? If you can't tolerate someone else's lifestyle choice, are you really being the polite person you are supposed to be? Love between any two people isn't the problem and never has been throughout history. The problem has always been and continues to be the lack of simple acceptance of the love those two people share. Religion has played a huge role in that dynamic.

 

Really? Allow me to introduce you to the three openly gay couples that I worship with every Sunday. Two of them I play music with in that church.... Joe, the side that is blowing up their chests and doing the eye poking is not my side of the isle.

 

Are you trying to deny that religion hasn't played a historical role in discriminating against gay couples because three gay couples go to your church? You do know how crazy that sounds, right?

I do think that many of your truths are often contradictory and therefore easily called out simply by pointing out the impacts you are willing to heap on others while thinking of yourself as the victim. That type of cognitive dissonance opens itself up to the inconsistencies in your arguments. So, of course, all you can do as a defense is assert that I believe conservatives are all monsters.

IMO, this member is a typical democrat. All you need to do is watch a government hearing when the head of a department is asked a direct question. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!
