I am a CoinTalk user as well so some of you may know me (despite my different username) and I just wanted to introduce myself! The first presidential election that I am voting in will be in 2024, so I decided it was my civic duty to enter into modern political discourse. Now my two main options (aside from touching grass and talking to people) is either this forum or Twitter. Now I do have Twitter, but I don't want my homepage to be flooded with political content. I used to take an active interest in politics a few years ago before I was even old enough to vote, but I got tired of it all and now have a lingering disdain for politics, but it's my civic duty to be informed at the very least. I don't lean hard one way or the other and try to let my faith guide my decisions, so I hope some productive conversation will come of it. It does seem that this forum is nearing the end of its natural life, but hopefully, I'll have a few good conversations before this place gives up the ghost.
Welcome, @AveChristusRex . Involvement at your age is a wonderful thing to see. We're here to share beliefs and positions, political and otherwise. Don't mind the banter . . . It can get raucous, even confrontational at times, but the exchange of information (and disinformation) offers us the opportunity to learn more, or reinforce what we already believe.
Welcome to the forum. I too am a regular CoinTalker... Sadly, things tend to get a bit testy in here from time to time. You would expect better from grown-ups! But don't let that sour your zeal for our democratic system one bit. It is still the greatest democracy in the world.
Welcome. Our opinions are formed by our source of information. Twitter and most TV will leave you ignorant. They don't go into any depth concerning what they consider to be news. Late in life I found AM radio. It changed my life forever. There are two basic types of people. Those that believe everything they hear or read and those that check it out from every other source they can find. You will become disillusioned with the US Media and Twitter in a very short time. Here is an example. The Republican Congress discovered that before they took control of the House after the elections, the Democrats had erased or encoded much of the 1/6 Committee testimony (we paid for those government records) that did not go along with that farce of an investigation. There is even video proving a member of the Capitol police lied under oath about a protester he had no contact with! The Capital police have done nothing about it yet a US citizen is in jail. One last thing. If you take the time to actually become informed about what is being kept from your fellow citizens by lies, misinformation, and omission, you will become angry and depressed at the same time. Sorry to be so blunt.
YIKES! I missed that comment, reading a bit fast. All I have to say is: in nomime Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti.
AveC, Please don't let us disappoint you and cause you not to return. I promise we will keep the 3rd. Grade Posts to a minimum.
Thank you for the welcome everyone, I'm excited to become involved in the discourse. I'm glad many of us here know some stuff, I'd like to say I know a thing or two as well.
You are not getting anywhere throwing a word like that around. THIS IS FIGHT CLUB!! Oh Oh, fresh bait....and starting out with a challenge. BEER BEER BEER!!!!
OK, I have some questions for you to test your knowledge and to make sure you are not one of the ignorant, girliemen, worthless posters here who make statements they will not defend as they slink away after craping up a discussion with their smelly monky business nonsense. I'll answer them first myself and see how much we agree or disagree. I hope you prove to be a worthwile member who is willing to share their knowledge of what is actually going on in this country. 1. Is Donald Trump a crook? I say yes. 2. Is Donald Trump a scoundre? I say yes. 3. Do you think Donald Trump was a stronge POTUS? I say yes. 4 Do you think The world was safer when Trump was POTUS? I say Yes. 5. Do you think the US economy was the best it has been in a long time before COVID hit the world? l say yes. 6. Do you think Donald Trump is too old to be POTUS again. I say no. 7. Do you think Trump is intelligent and in complete control of his faculties? I say yes. 8. Do you think Joe Biden is a crook? I say yes. 9. Do you think Joe Biden is in complete control of his faculties without drugs? I say no. 10. Do you think out bordrs are open? I say yes. 11. Do you think any country should have open borders? I say no. 12. Can you name one besides the USA and the Mexico pass thru to the US exemption? I cannot. 13. Do you think a POTUS who lets anyone enter this country is defending his oath of office. I don't. 14. Do you think that is an impeachable offence? I do. That's all for now. a simple answer in this form will do until we can discuss any specifics: 1. Yes or no. 2. yes or no. 3 -14 ditto. That will save you time. A few other members here will not answer these questions makinking them absolutely worthless cowards in my opinion who should be banned from membership. I hope you a a better poster thabn they are and I await your replies. Thanks for joining us.
Speaking of one of the [Self Edit}. If the "new" member does not bother to answer direct questions as you and your ilk have done in the past, I'll suspect he is an "alt" who formerly was an expert on Moen toilets.
I like the sound of that. Let's forget about words like "civility" and "nuance" and grab the boxing gloves!
I-III. I'd say yes to all of them, though I am not a fan of Donald Trump banning bump stocks for example, I know from firsthand experience we were doing much better 5 years ago. I don't know enough about him personally to say "crook" or "scoundrel" in particular but anyone who gets to where he is at the very least knows how to game the system. I mean that financially, not in terms of politically. IV. Yes. No new wars was a big win in my book V. While I didn't have to pay for gas until the latter years of the Trump Presidency, using that as a benchmark I would say we were much better off then. While that's not the only metric, it is very easy to relate to many people. Things were easier to afford. I could look at things like GDP and make a more educated claim, but that's above my pay grade so to speak. VI. While Donald Trump in particular seems to be doing fine, the question of being too "old" would make me want to say yes. I know people ten years younger than him who are suffering from mental decline that comes with age, and I don't want to chance him becoming stricken with such an illness while in office. Even Ronald Reagan ended up with Alzheimer's after his time in office, though some may say he could have begun showing symptoms during his final years. In either case, I think the fact that 65 is the typical retirement age due to the higher possibility of physical/mental decline, the most powerful man in the world should also be held to that standard. VII. See above, I believe so. VIII. Joe Biden himself I think is too degraded to be anything at this point, I know less about him than Trump, but with Biden being an establishment Democrat, I'd be inclined to say yes. IX. Nope. There are too many instances of him acting like a memory care patient to even consider saying otherwise. X. Seems like it. Proud of Texas for standing it's ground, though. XI. Nope. Legal immigration for those who want it, is very good. What we have now with criminals hopping the border and taking what they want? That is detrimental to our society. XII. I'm not entirely sure what you're asking here XIII. Well, he's not protecting us from foreign or domestic enemies, so no. XIV. If not upholding the oath of office is, then yes. I gave a bit more than a yes or no to explain my reasoning and thought process, and I intend to keep an open mind. Don't be concerned about me being an alt account or some ne'er-do-well, I'm here for productive conversation and explanation of my opinions (and the occasional verbal brawl) and I hope I can contribute something of value! Thanks for reading.
