Post books here you have read, and would recommend for another to read. I happen to be a person that if you recommend a book, there's a good chance I'll read it, and I hope you guys' are the same. I look forward to broadening my library. Im currently reading: Mysteries of the mind "the drama of human behavior" By Robert M. Goldenson and in line next is: The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. A recommended book from me is: They cage the animals at night By Michael Jennings Burch -Shawn
I'm very partial to Stephen King. Movies usually do not translate too well actually. One exception happens to be one of my favorites. "The Stand"
We are all coin/internet types here. I can highly recomment the book " Paypal Wars " a fascinating story on how the the web works, and in a very non technical way. Zero politics. Takes paypal from an upstart in a cramped rented room with 4 folding tables thru the sell out to Ebay and everything in between. As a person who has started, built and sold 2 web based companies, and currently on my third, I could not put the book down. Read it in a weekend.
Sounds like a good book. Gotta ask you this though. Are you still real confident in Paypal? I ask because we got burned at the shop on a $500 coin and a customer got burned for $1200 on a Rolex. Of course ebay is heavy in the mix but we now keep limited funds in paypal to avoid the "seller is wrong we pull the money" mindset. Hell, could be a new book. Ebay and Paypal.
McBeth and that Ceasar book by the same guy was pretty good for its insight into a person's psy. Haven't really read anything that would have been sold in Barnes and Noble for close to 20 years now.
Stephen King is an author I would love to read more of. I watched the movie "the mist" and I found it interesting he used religion to tear the community apart in a time of distress... interesting,
Any one read any books by Phil Rickman? they are rather interesting if you like a bit of the supernatural and the clergy, not as gory as King's books though And we must not forget Mr Terry Pratchet LOL here is a short list of some of my fav authours Conn Iggulden Simon Scarrow Bernard Cornwell James McGee Patrick O'Brian Valerio Massimo Manfredi David Gemmel Raymond E. Feist Harry Turtledove Bruce Sterling Eric Flint David Weber
He had shlock and he has brillance. His best works are like tomes with story lines that weave in and out but always with support and a logic that ties it all together. But the last books I've read were passed abouts like the Brotherhood of the Rose, Dogs of War, um stuff like that.
I recently read both Bill's " Because I Could " and Hillarys " Living History". I liked Bill a whole lot more and Hillary a whole lot less after reading them, lol. Then I read the Dick Morris counterpart books the get the truth, and liked Bill even MORE and Hillary even LESS !!!! I generally read one hardcover non fiction a week, sometimes two, I am a ferocious reader, always have been. Next up on the docket, " King of Cons " about the Hollywood charity and political fundraising industry. Favorite " right " author, probably Newt Gingrich or Pat Buchanon Favorite " left " author, James Carville, hands down. The guy is brilliant, wish we had him on our side. Brilliant. New book coming out soon: Ted White and Blue, the Nugent Manifesto. I'll have a signed copy in the mail here shortly and buy one as a loaner.
well, since my last post I have finished. "Odd hours" By Dean Koontz "Eragon" By Christopher Paolini and "Lord of the Flies" By William Golding and I think the only one I would recomend would be.. "odd hours" as Im sure you have all read "Lord of the flies" Dean Koontz has a very descriptive way of writing, he could be writing about.. Little emoticons next to the reply box on this screen, and you would have no problem imagining exactly what it looks like. VERY descriptive. Take care. Shawn
Leon Uris, James Clavell(King Rat was a great book),Raymond Chandler, Robert Ludlum, Kurt Vonnegut, and Lawrence Sanders are just a few of my favs.
