Thats very cool...anyone who has been here long enough knows I have blown my top to the nth degree in the past. I have been working on keeping things more conversational as well...I can tell you are passionate about what you say and your beliefs but its just no good to let it get us to the point where we are bickering and quarrelling, its debate not Friday night fights. I was inspired by certain people recently who I noticed were...civil even in the face of ranting and verbal abuse, stayed calm, etc...I have always admired people who can express themselves calmly, succinctly, not near as wordy as I, without venom, hyperbole, vindictiveness, and generally make good points without having to strike out...I know I am not perfect but do try and thats all we can do...I have to say I have enjoyed some of the conversations here and to hear others point of view and I think most people here now, even though they can slip, can disagree, even strongly, and not just hurl insults and invective. Now if only congress could do that
Moen, is that not the toliet bowl that I sit upon while relieving my intestines. I do not understand your reference point. Or are you painting a picture of Roden's the thinker with toliet paper to represent political discussion. Americans confuse me at times.
I try not to invest too much non-productive emotion into these discussions or take/make then personal. Of course, I am not perfect...as my wife is fond of reminding me.
Well, I suppose I should comment at some point after all I am mentioned in the OP. Things get and got pretty heated. They've been heated in the past amongst many of us. I think most of you have a pretty good idea who was really going at it there for a while. Give you a hint. I was one of them. Now, I try to remain objective and got a little bit perturbed myself. More than usual for sure. Can't deny it nor will I try. What helped calm me down and "walk away" WAS the responses by others. A sort of "collective cool" as it were. I don't know about you Jack but I DID get a couple of PMs over the "blowout". People that didn't want to get in the middle but were basically asking "what the hell happened?" As long winded as I can be (like I don't know that) I kept it as short and sweet as possible. They didn't want details and didn't get them. Walking away is the best solution here at times really. I'm here a few times a day but not really posting that much. Not worth my while most of the time honestly. The next month or so is really going to get heated at times I can imagine. Home stretch as it were. It's gonna be tough but as Jack pointed out this is such a small part of it. This forum will NOT change the country or this world. clembo
