Any one read this story? I have to say it seems to be the hight of stupidity and the lack of simple compassion is outstanding http://www.parentdish.co.uk/2009/10/23/too-young-to-stay-six-year-old-girl-faces-eviction?icid=main|uk|dl2|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.co.uk%2F2009%2F10%2F23%2Ftoo-young-to-stay-six-year-old-girl-faces-eviction
That is sad for the little girl. I don't have any real sympathy for the grandparents but I think the court should give a stay to allow them to sell the house and move. 6 months should be fine. Gives them enough time to lower the price some more and sell it.
It would be more understable if the grandparents were not making an effort to leave but they are. Give them the time they need and keep the kid's homelife stable. I wonder if the neighbors are complaining about her?
That is what is kind of puzzling to me. If it is a homeowners association, I would think they could modify their rules as they wanted. A homeowner's association is made up of the homeowners as far as I know. It is not some nameless, faceless corporation. They could easily give her 6 months or a year to live their just in a board meeting. So, I have to figure that the homeowners involved don't want her there.
Seems they were aware of the consequense and took the chance for four years now. Thats a long time to be unable to sell a house. I dont think the age of the child should make a dofference. If the girl was nine would it have the same affect? 14 years old?
Unfortunatly the housing market took a rather nasty downturn in recent months, now that might well have something to do with the inability to sell!
Well...it might have something to do with not getting the price you want for your house more than not actually being able to sell it.
They had the tot for four years. I think it has more to do with not getting the price they want than selling it to avoid eviction.
