I don't expect everyone to read it (it might not take an hour but it will take more than a glance ') ) but I thought this was a good article. It was in this week's Time (my bathroom mag) but it is online too: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,2026776-3,00.html I tend to agree with him on some of the reasons for a lot of our problems. Technology, Increased World Competition and Over-consumption. I also tend to agree with some of his solutions...especially government investing in things like education over throwing money at us to consume more.
We outsource all the wealthy to India and Mexico, all management, all CEOs, all 300k plus.........OUT.
That could quite possibly happen. Did you read the quote on Coca Cola. They are in like 200 countries and I think it was 80% of their revenue comes from outside the US. They made the comment of being a global company that just happens to be headquartered in the US. It is not out of the realm of possibility that we could end up with even entire companies going overseas. Not sure how that helps us in the long run, though or makes us better. Unless you just subscribe to the 'misery loves company' idea.
Well...maybe with the criminal rapists out of the country, perhaps the people left can redevelop it into something other than a cesspool of greed, corporate corruption, thus leaving us all free to rebuild our once great society, and turn it into something to be proud of, without their corrupt influence. (it's just a dream). It won't happen I realize because a moral society has long since been replaced with the almighty (and imaginary) dollar.
After about 97% of the population dies off, we can go back to a nice, little, hunter gatherer society like the native Americans had. We are going to have a lot of burying to do, though, or it is going to get really smelly.
I'd rather the top 2% go that route. Then maybe everybody else would begin to fall inline....begin to find ways to become moral???..nah..guess not.
