He gets all the credit for winning games, winning awards, etc so I guess it only makes sense for Him to get all the blame for losing a game or dropping a pass. Somebody (or maybe a number of somebodies) did a comedy piece on that once. Can't remember who.
Good point! How often do we see these players praise God for their successes on the field but it is certainly less frequent to see one of these athletes blame the good Lord for one of their failures. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away! Can I get an AMEN brother!
Maybe it's just the idiotic players that think God wouldn't have anything better to do than help them catch their passes. Amen.
If an omnipotent being really existed, I’m sure he’d be interested in the NFL. I find it just fine to be humbled by something greater than yourself but creating a supreme being in the image of rather ordinary beings such as ourselves and all the personification that accompanies that process just takes it one step too far.
He'd be an Eagles fan too I'm sure. Seriously, you always hear it's a matter of "faith". It really is. If someone doesn't want to "plug in" to the idea of God because they don't believe it or can't comprehend it, then they won't. Like life...it's a choice. I used to be the biggest non believer, so to speak, until God answered my prayers with many things in my life I've had trouble with. Meeting my wife had a lot to do with it too. Not preaching at you, just sayin', life goes a lot further with a little faith. Difficult in today's world I'll grant you, but, too many good things have happened in my life to believe otherwise. I'm still pissed at humanity and their ignorance most of the time, but there's definitely a God IMO. People choose to be ignorant. God gave them that choice. Look or don't look I guess. He won't always give you what you want but he'll give you what you need if you take a little time to ask. All that said...I still believe republicans are a by product of the devil (just kidding...sorta).

Not a joke, actually. Lots of us wish this were true. So many people give God the credit only for winning. But if God's involved in Team A winning, then He's involved (actively or passively) in Team B losing. Someday, I'd love to hear an athlete say, "I thank God for the dropped pass. It reminded me to be humble. I'm extraordinarily blessed, and still will be, regardless of whether or not we won the game." P.S. Hey Moen - well done on your Biblical quotation from Job! If God is fictitious, the bible is simply a work of fiction. Job's story is just one more made up tale.
Well...I certainly understand your perspective when it comes to God, as I did the same for a large percentage of my life. My wife God? Angel perhaps, certainly not God. No, nothing forced.. ignorance is a clearly a choice. All of us, the earth, the endless galaxies, the clockwork accuracy time and space that we are just now barely beginning to understand, is all a chance mixing of something born of nothing? Nah...I'm pretty sure ignorance is most often, a choice. Just my opinion though you're certainly welcome to yours.
God isn't fictitious. The point was that you used the Job quote in the proper Biblical context. You used it the way Job did. You preached a Scripturally sound (albeit very short) sermon. So ... AMEN!
