I wonder if he will decide to not give up those powers one of these times.

 

Possibly might be the opening shots in a civil war!

 

So what exactly is the difference between Chavez and Congress? Let's see; one passes laws by decree individually, and the other passes laws by decree en masse?

 

The difference? One is a dictatorship and one is not. This looks to me like Venezuela's 'Enabling Act' with the floods being their Reichstag fire. It would be like Bush setting up a dictatorship after Katrna or Obama setting one up during the recession.

The extreme US partisan tactic is too label the other party's president as 'Hitler'. But, the reality is that neither Bush nor Obama has ever done anything close to this.
