Yeah, Young Republicans also hate being told "how to cook", "what to cook" and "what time to be there". Well, Dummy Socialist needs to finish his homework and get out in the real world where things really happen.

So, dr moen, honestly, what do you think about what this guy who workds at Noodles had to say about his his role as an employee and the owner's role as boss?

When I went to college I was probably pretty idealistic too as are many kids that probably come from dull motivation killing soviet style public schools into the bright light of infinite possibilities. Sure he is idealistic but he is trying to apply things he is learning to the world he lives in. Not always an easy fit but not always wrong either.

Is his indoctrination really any different than a young republican student might get in a business school program? Not so much.

Schools of thought isn't just a phrase.

Oh, c'mon, you're toeing the line a bit too much here, be honest. This grown man is working side-by-side (or at least his organization is) with the unions and they are all using the same rhetoric. They are attacking the same small business owner you are advocating for in the other thread.
You know, I was a Young Repub in college, graduated from business school, earned an MBA and went on the work for a very large international bank. The socialists may be indoctrinating the young to hate capitalism & object to being told what to do at work but I don't recall ever being indoctrinated in business school (or anywhere along the line).

Using that type of reasoning, the Young Republicans are just like the cheesebaggers in Wisconsin who want their money and the privilege to bargain for more of it. If the cheesebaggers were more altruistic, they would see what's good for the collective and quit being such greedy capitalists. Those damned cheesebagging Wisconsin capitalists! They just want more of what's good for themselves without thinking of the rest of their community.

Oh, and I enjoyed how Dummy Socialist sold his magazine (at the end of the video). He engaged in a capitalist transaction while espousing socialism. Truly, truly hilarious!

See, you're dead wrong. In college we were encouraged to serve, my employers have advocated giving back to the community and we teach our kids to serve others as well. In fact, the bank allowed me to serve an entire year as a corporate volunteer for the United Way. They paid me my whole salary (I gave up my bonuses) even though I was pretty much gone the entire year.

Good point. It's okay to organize & demand more as long as they don't have to perform & earn it. It's okay to take from others just don't take from me. Right union workers?

No I think they pretty much don't want to pay for the tax breaks Walker gave the large corporations of Wisconsin as his first priority in office. Nor do they think they should have to give up their pensions because the big banks sold toxic assets with triple A ratings all across the country, then were bailout, then didn't go to jail. I think that they have every right to demand Wisconsin honor the pension contract they agreed to. Instead, they have conceded to the the reduced benefits and wages and still the Governor wants more. Boy, they sure sound greedy eh? Stop buying into the false Right wing narrative. It doesn't hold water.

Yesterday, my wife was at the business school here talking to the faculty about learning outcomes and getting the business students to participate in groups that show the types of learning outcomes the university is interested in assessing. Nothing she hasn't proposed in the other colleges on campus with one major difference. The Business School faculty laughed at the idea that the business students would participate for anything less than a cash payment more or less stating learning outcomes be damned. The issue of students being paid to evaluate their own learning outcomes never came up in any other college. Here is an instance of greed from yesterday, not 30 years ago.

Just for clarification, how do you two birds of a feather defend this nonsense? The guy complains that the business who employs him goes too far by telling him how to do his job & when to be at work? You heard that part, right? He thinks that there may be a place at the restaurant for the owner as long as he'll defer to the wishes of the employees?
Don't ignore the fact that the organization he is speaking for is right there in the middle of things with the unions. They are sharing a forum & philosophy that has proven to never work anywhere.

Do you seriously believe whatever this kids says represents anything other than his own opinion do you? Whatever he says is his opinion and his opinion alone. Don't ask me to defend his opinion. That would be stupid. He is entitled to have any opinion he likes but doesn't speak for anyone else. If you don't understand that much, you're a lost cause.

From the International Socialist Review this young kid was holding up.

    Austerity USA

In the United States, austerity is already in full swing at the state and local level. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, state and local governments have wiped out 407,000 jobs since August 2008. These cutbacks were an unstated policy of the Obama administration, which failed to include sufficient aid to state governments in the stimulus package passed in early 2009.

Now, with Republicans taking control of the House of Representatives, austerity will be front and center in U.S. politics for the foreseeable future. Obama himself signaled his willingness to collaborate with Republicans on cutbacks when he announced a two-year pay freeze for all non-military federal employees. But that will save just $5 billion over two years, according to the Office of Management and Budget—a mere rounding error in U.S. government budgets. And if the proposed deal between Obama and the Republicans to temporarily extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the top income brackets goes through, it will cost the U.S. treasury $38.8 billion just through 2011. While Obama is promising to make cuts in military spending as well, the proposed cuts would leave in place the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan and a military machine several times bigger than the combined strength of its potential rivals.

Austerity measures in the United States are unlikely to be carried out as quickly as in Greece or Ireland, nor will they cut as deep. But in a country where 17 percent of the workforce is jobless or underemployed, and in which one in five families don’t have secure sources of food, any cuts to the meager remains of the social safety net will have a devastating impact.

That’s why it’s so important to look the example of Europe, where, until the recent explosion of protests, the left and the unions have been on the retreat for years, just as they have in the United States. If the first wave of struggle hasn’t been successful in stopping the cuts, it shouldn’t be surprising. The left, the unions and social movement organizations aren’t yet strong enough to push back a united capitalist class that’s determined to push its program through. But the scale of the attack gives working people—in Europe, the United States and the world over—no alternative but to fight back. The struggles of recent months are producing a new generation of leaders who will need to develop the organization, politics and strategies needed to win. Precisely how this will play out is unpredictable. But the resistance is already taking shape.

I agree that it is his opinion. He was simply using Noodles & Company as a concrete example of the dichotomy between those who own the means of production and those that do the producing. Standard Marxist rhetoric heard on just about any campus in the country. I’ve met a few people like him in my time and their idealism tend so wear off as they age. Anyone who actually bothers to get emotional about this kid has way too much leisure time on their hands.

What do you guys have against the working teachers, policemen, firemen, civil servants of this country anyway? You sure seem to favor oppressive government tactics over the working man. Is it a case of first they came for the public workers and I did nothing, then they came of the private sector workers and I did nothing, then they came for me and there was no one left to help? Sorry, just thought I'd speak like Glenn Beck so you could understand more easily.

What a revelation! Thank you, Socrates!

The problem is that these impressionable kids are being taught this crap by Marxist-leaning college profs who actually believe it.

Some do, some don't. I know some old hippie types who still believe this junk. Of course, they don't work (rarely have), mooch off their siblings, get every government handout they can, etc.

I honestly feel sorry for this socialist because one day he's going to have his eyes opened to the real world. It may be too much for his fragile mind to handle.

I have nothing against the workers you mentioned. They sought employment, an employer hired them according to specific guidelines (pay, hours, benefits, etc.) and the worker accepted. If their employment is no longer conducive to their needs, they're welcome to seek employment elsewhere. I don't see why the workers really need a bloated, overlord bureaucracy trying to squeeze more money out of the employer. Are the workers just greedy, or what?

Ha! If only you did, maybe you'd have more people listening to you instead of the one psycho on this forum who agrees with you.
