I actually used to like Ted, before I saw him in concert (opening for KISS). His political rants in between songs made me ill. Then I heard him on Rush. Then I really began to hate him. Now....I think he's just a right wing ass that ate too much rabid squirrels. Malmsteen was a flash in the pan. There were lots of them in the ninties.
It was late last night and you got me off track on the defensive. This thread is not about what we think of others, it is about what we got good at. I got good at guitar, thats all.
How well? Out of all the sports I used to follow, football's been my favorite... and wish I'd follow it more lol ...Oh, and just to start a fight... I'm a Packer fan...
When I was in grade school I took it upon myself to defend a kid who was constantly being bullied during recess. This impressed him so well that when his mother became pregnant again, they named the child after me. I doubt any altruistic motives here. There was a playground power struggle going on then between my group of friends and the bully boys. And his main tormenter was a kid I considered a personal enemy. And I was a 'tough guy' then and liked a good fight. And I was besotted by a sort of Saturday morning cowboy show heroism, you know, be strong and stand up for the weak. It was a self-serving ego trip for me.
I'm Hispanic so for me was making it a goal to master the English language even though I was born and raised here in the USA. I did K through 12, vocational schooling and college. Not only did I succeed in my goal, even though at home we had to speak Spanish, I became an English major with advance above average skills. I'm now a writer.
Well, the question isn't what I'm good at, it's what I've succeeded at, so... I would say I have been very successful in finding a wonderful, beautiful and loving wife, and conceived 2 beautiful intelligent children. Mostly through dumb luck - I usually don't feel I deserve my wonderful family but I am very grateful that I have been successful in this area of my life.
