They gotta let those priest marry. It is time to bring that back and get a new breed of person becoming a priest.

I don't think that access to marriage is a cure for paedophilia.

Probably not Peter but it might cut down the numbers. At least in the Catholic priesthood. They could always go into other jobs where they could practice pedophilia.

Furthermore has anyone ever noticed that we don't hear a lot of stories of "knocked up nuns?" Seriously if a priest wants sex he should not be a priest but if the "urge" overcomes him an alter boy won't get pregnant.

I am not here to blast Catholics. I'm certain this happens in many other religions as well. The fact that the Catholic religion has been SO big for SO long makes it news and frankly news that should be reported. "Hiding" the guilty is a big sin IMHO and I am not religious.

The bottom line to me is that a pedophile should be treated as such. Toss them in jail. They're not real popular on the inside either and really tend to pay for it.

Separation of Church and State can only go so far.

What would cut down on paedophilia in the Catholic priesthood is for them to stop sweeping it under the rug by playing musical parishes with them and instead expel them from the priesthood and turn them over to local law enforcement. It might be more painful for them in the short-term, but for the love of all things Holy it would benefit them for all eternity.

I don't know about the "all eternity" thing but I won't argue with the rest.

New Zealand if I remember correctyl, when I watch that HBo show I understand. Shame about the Earthquake but they did have a team make the World Cup in Soccer. Need to let Priests marry. Will bring in heterosexuals and perhaps a person should'nt be a priest unless they were married. Bring in more understanding as well as hopefully a more balanced person. The question is could gay priests get married if this was the case. kinda of like being grandfathered in. Bit of a scramble post but I hope it is a bit interesting.
