But, the Occupy Idiots want their student loans paid for, David. That should completely eliminate their debt and, therefore, no "crushing the economy". But, wait....... someone has to pay for their loans. I guess it will be you and me who pay for them. Isn't it wonderful living in Socialist Lollipop Land?

As the States and the Federal government decrease funding for education, institutions must increase tuition costs to keep funding levels at or below current levels. Costs don't decrease for us either. Many public schools have furloughed workers, cut salaries by 10% annually, and reduced staff and faculty through attrition adversely affecting both the quality and availability of classes. Tuition and fees go up by almost 10% annually just to stay afloat. I don't know any institution awash in cash.
If you want less expensive education so that students are not drowning in student loan debt, FUND education through taxes. We all built the system, we might as well use it.

Now tell me why private institutions cost are going up?

Well, you recently claimed to have rec'd a $60,000 a year raise. How does that fit your narrative? Or have you been lying to us?

As I said before in the countless threads you’ve posted on this same topic, going from administration to senior administration will have that economic effect. Any time a position is vacated and an opening comes along, anyone in any sector, education or otherwise, gets a bump in pay that comes with the additional responsibility if they take a higher paying job. Right? Have you ever been promoted? I bet you got a raise if you did.
Now, tell me why private education institutions such as Phoenix University pay their president 20 million a year while our president makes around $300,000? State employees make far, far less than they could make in private industry. I had to take a cut in pay by half when left the private sector but it was a choice I made and I certainly don't regret it. Education is worthy career and is far more rewarding than working for a profit driven organization that add next to nothing to society except the next widget. I have worked in both areas and I like Higher Education more than the private sector. You have never worked in both areas so you are ignorant of the differences.
Honestly, I think your resentment of higher learning institutions is really based in your inability to send your kids to school without student loans. I know what you have claimed in the past and I don't honestly believe that you can afford to send them to school without student loans. I think it bothers you, I know it would bother me and I think it is the basis of your continued resentment. I have never had any faith in your ability to be honest in this forum. You have simply brought up this same old subject too many times to hide your resentment. If you had been smarter, you would have used someone like me as a resource instead taking out your frustration and resentment on me for things that I have no control over.

........so, just how many student loans did you have to produce in order to get this mega promotion? How do you sleep at night knowing you had/have a hand in something that is sure to have such a negative impact on our economy?

Is this the point where you read my posts and answer NO questions I've asked but instead you keep asking me snarky questions and expect that I'll keep taking you seriously? Just let me know and I'll move along but for some strange reason, I feel that this, like all the other threads you've created on the same topic was directed at me specifically. Anyway, just let me know if you've reached the aforementioned point already or just answer the questions I've asked. Your call.

So they cheer as funding to schools is reduced, complain that students pay more, and now call student dept a danger to the economy. Everything I've come to expect from right-wingers out of touch with reality.

I don't want to anywhere near a right-winger when they harvest a tree. They'll chop away at the trunk, yell at it for falling, and sue the tree for daring to fall on their property.

That is EXACTLY right IQ. Being in High Ed, I have watched every time as the Right has either tried to or successfully cut education funds both for institutions and students. Inevitably, the same RW'ers that were cheering the cuts are now complaining that education was too expensive. Does cause and effect even enter into their feeble minds?
Education in this country has always been subsidized by our taxes to some degree because it has such a huge return on investment. From the first land grant schools to free education, we as a country used to invest in education. These days the greed of the wealthy power brokers that see no need to invest in education because they are too personally greedy to care about anything but their own situation. They convince the idiots on the Right that education is bad and we should not be spending money on it and those same idiots never make the connection between the cuts and the rising cost of going to school. I laugh at people like David that must pay or have his kids pay huge student loans for education because daddy was too short-sighted to see the consequences of his own ideology.

Yeah, I think this is where we re-confirm the fact that you have ZERO credibility & are proven to be a liar. Neither of my 2 daughters are anywhere near college age so we won't have to concern ourself with you nasty student loan pushers just yet.

So you're not going to "concern yourself" with college expenses for your kids until the time comes? You call that planning for the future? Seems pretty irresponsible to me. Unless of course you feel that higher ed isn't going to be a factor since all college does is "over educate" women and divert them from their divinely assigned duties in the kitchen and the bedroom. Great example of RW thinking.

I have stated many times that my kid's college tuition has been taken care of. We have saved, invested wisely & lived well under our means. I think moen's nastiness is nothing more than jealously. He's 10-20 years older than I am, I am in the position to retire at the ripe old age of 45 and he can't take it.

When you say that you won't have to concern yourself with student loan pushers just yet, the implication to me is that at some point you will have to, but apparently despite what you have written you think that the opposite is true. Glad we got that cleared up.

I agree with you about living below your means and doing something wise with the excess bucks even if it's nothing more than sticking them in CDs or Treasuries or something. But one thing this assumes is that you have sufficient means to allow you the luxury of living below them on an ongoing basis. The RW seems to assume that everyone can do this if they try while at the same time somewhat contradictorily pointing out that in the great struggle of life there will be winners and losers in financial terms and even though the losers might have tried their best, well, too bad for them.

And finally, your line about Moen marks you as a true RWer. You assume that any opposition to you must boil down to jealously or envy of your (loudly self-proclaimed) financial success and the implied moral superiority. Doesn't sound like Moen is doing too badly to me and it sounds like he's also doing something he finds enjoyable and rewarding. Don't know why he would be jealous of the likes of you and your claim that you can retire at 45. And even if he is it would not explain my own distaste for you and your ilk.

Right, it's my credibility that is at issue here? Here is a solution for you, don't take out any student loans. Sounds like with all the planning you've done, your lovely young daughters won't be going to college anyway. Maybe you should have planned better.

He has said so many contradictory things in the past that I really have no reason to believe what he says now. You just get a feeling for when people are lying if you pay attention and also if you pay attention to how strongly they react to certain topics. I think David will say anything or make up any story that fits his agenda. Is RW desperation really a stretch? The more loudly you have to assert your honesty, the less likely it is you are being honest.

I'm just figuring, at some point, we will have to fight off those vultures. My wife has gone back to nursing school & we are bombarded with student loan solicitations...I can't imagine what it's going to be like in 4 years when my oldest heads off to school! I'm glad I've saved & invested & spent wisely.

Question for moen....can I lock in a tuition rate if I pre-pay 4 years worth upfront?
