One question I have always had, and I don't mean to generalize to all; why are Muslim or Arab males so afraid of women that they have to use their holiest book as a weapon to oppress them? I've worked with Muslim men that have been in the U.S. a long time and they continue to have the opinion that women are at best second class citizens. What is it that they fear about the opposite sex???? I wish we had some Muslims on this forum that could respond.
I don't think that because some Muslims treat women as inferior that it means they are scared of them. I see it as very akin to society in general. Why were Americans so "afraid" of women that they used every precedent they could, including the Christian Bible, to oppress them? Middle Eastern culture, just like American culture was 30 years ago and to a point still is today, is primarily a male-driven society. Why don't you have women clerics? Well, why don't you have a woman as President? Because the society defined the roles of men as the leaders and women as the "inferior" followers. ~AJ

When I was in england with my girlfriend, I went outside a kabob house we were eating out, and when I came back she screamed because 2 middle eastern men were putting thier hands on her. Those guys are lucky to be alive right now... She lived in england for 2 years, as did her friend, and they were harrassed daily by middle eastern men.

I guess what I meant by "fear women", is that they are afraid that if they give women any autonomy, they themselves will lose stature. By keep women second-class citizens they prop up their own social value. I didn't mean that they were actually living in fear of women. I lived in Leeds England for 6 months recently and they have a heavy Muslim population in the area. The Muslim women living there have far more freedoms such as driving, dressing how they want, and socializing compared to those still living in the Middle East. But having said that, adult daughters are still killed by their fathers for living a lifestyle that the fathers consider beneath one of their offspring. It happened while we were there. Such absolute control over the women in a culture says to me that the men fear women and will go to any length to keep their control over them. So my question remains, what are they so scared of?
Read my post above. If you want to use your interpretation of the word "scared" then my post still applies. Just as in the past, most societies around the world, especially Middle Eastern and American and European societies are male-dominate, not female-dominated. Thus, the men oppress the women to keep control.
Because men are generally stronger and normally achieve peek sexual intrest at a young age. This has results in the biggest, and usually dumbest, being the boss and the predator. It only follows then that they would opress. If opression is the game women are easier since their physical strength is generally less. This is why a civilized society doesn't let the dumb lead. (Wait how did Bush get in then?)
Good question Moen. If one reads the entire Quran they would read how basically women are property of men and put here to take care of our needs. One has to realize that for most Christians, Jews , Hindus our religion is part of our life but in the Islamic World ,Islam is everything. The movies, the songs, the news, the governments, the courts, the education all has either total Islamic control or is Islamically based. Now I can quote the koran on this but those who seem so bent on defending what is basically evil will ignore it and misdirect and mislead the line of thought onto something else like hey the Joan of Arc was burned one thousand years ago or something and our coins say In God we trust, etc... Our only hope of the world not blowing up altogether would be if we can get women to have equal rights in the Islamic world, if we can get democracy successfully in place, if we can expose generations of arab youth to pro-non muslim images then and only then could we hope that when muslims read the koran they could then also question it.
I don't think we have to bother with fighting any Muslims. We just have to sick their women on them and stand back. Think how cheesed off their women must be after all these centuries of oppression. Maybe we could start a rumor that Middle Eastern men have small ******. :d
The Bush quip aside, I don't know about their physical strength being less.... getting slapped by a girl pretty much knocks you on your ass.... I'd call that significant strength! Not that I'd know about getting slapped or anything.......................................................

If you noticed in all my posts not once did I talk about killing anyone. All I wanted to do was point out what is going on in the world and what the Koran is about. I honestly believe that we need to deal with terrorist nations like Saudia Arabia and terrorist cells but my view for a long term solution is to build up democracies in the middle east and with that women's rights, etc....as I have posted before.
