Has Elizabeth Warren finally burned her billionaire bridges?

The entry of Michael Bloomberg into the presidential race and some rumblings from some Democrat Wall Street fat cats indicate that Elizabeth Warren may have gone too far with her “wealth tax to screw the rich” campaign.

I really don’t like any of these millionaire and billionaire socialists like Tom Steyer and Michael Bloomberg. Their attitude is “I’ve made my fortune, but I’m not going to let you make your nest egg because now I’m for socialism. Of course, I get to keep what I’ve got. I’m just going to take most of YOUR INCOME, but MY CAPITAL will be safe.”

Now “Pocahontas” is coming after their wealth, and they aren’t happy about it. How does it feel to be the target of the socialist – populist movement, guys? Do you feel like joining the rest us in the back of the plane instead of your Lear Jets? Maybe “Pocahontas” will be headed back to the Massachusetts reservation, where she belongs, in a few months.

I have long felt that woman speaks from both sides of her mouth as much as anyone I have ever seen to include Mrs. Clinton. And I witnessed exactly that trait from Mrs Clinton in person. Elizabeth Warren truly scares me more than any candidate I have ever seen run for office. I can only hope that Joe Biden carries the democratic nomination. If somehow this thing goes to Warren, I fear we are headed down a terribly destructive path. I don't even want to think it, really.

When she declared herself to be a Cherokee Indian, that was beyond dishonest. The courts and the government set up those programs to make up for years of discrimination. We can argue the merits of that, and also question how long such programs should last. Beyond that she used a false claim to get ahead of other people. If the Democrats really believe in those programs, they should be really incensed at her. Can you imagine if she was running as a Republican and had pulled that stunt? She would have been out of the race months ago.

On top that, she continues to lie. A month or so ago she said she had been run out of teaching position because she was pregnant. Unfortunately for her, she got caught in that lie when she said in a taped interview that she left position voluntarily. Her pregnancy had nothing to do with it.

We have the record. She is a bare faced liar. That should be enough warning of what she would be as president.

I have less of a problem with Elizabeth Warren claiming some part of heritage as Native American than I have with Republicans demeaning all Native Americans by mocking her as a caricature of a Native American historical figure. If Elizabeth Warren was wrong to overstate her heritage, then how wrong is it to demean ALL Native Americans through her mistake? There is nobody taking the high ground here.

I don’t follow, Joe. Are republicans oppressing native Americans somehow? I’m genuine here. I have no idea what you are referring to.

Ms. Warren overstating her heritage is but one small window to the soul of this lady. In fact, I find that to be quite minor actually. Ms. Warren is Sybil incarnate. She routinely makes conflicting statements depending upon her audience. There is no way to know what she stands for or who she is. I wonder even if she does. She scares the pants off me.

One more pathetic response, Joe. The Cherokees disowned her for what she did, and your party, under Andrew Jackson, was responsible for the Trail of Tears. There was no disrespectful behavior from the Republicans. Your attempts to spin this are reprehensible. If you are going to lie, make it a credible one.

I got you. I had totally forgotten the whole Pocahontas thing. I see what you are talking about...... You do realize that most of this stuff is parody on the 40’s-50’s Hollywood western portrayal of native Americans. Those campy war whoops were Hollywood at its glitziest.

And I’ll just say this. I think by and large that folks aren’t quite as sensitive as the left would have us believe. It’s in a persons nature to be able to laugh at himself. I am as polite a southern gentleman as you will find. I do not outwardly say things that would be hurtful. I just don’t do it. However, I am the first guy to laugh at an old man going bald joke. The whole Uber-sensitivitity thing is about as silly of an issue as I have ever seen put forward. Any person that doesn’t have the ability to laugh at his own condition is a truly miserable person indeed.

I have a sense of humor second to none. I can laugh at just about anything. But this isn't a matter of laughing at something or just being insensitive, it is about demeaning a cultural heritage. As I've pointed out previously, there is a difference between humor on the Left and humor on the Right. The Lefts humor is directed upwards in most cases. So the Left would more likely make fun of people of a higher social status. The Right, and let me say that there damn few comedians you can name from the Right, tend to direct their humor at people on a lower social status. In this case the "humor" that is being employed is at a minority and minorities always have a lower social status.

I’m sure that you watch Steven Colbert every night on TV. He has the same sense of humor that you have. Hate piled on top of hate, night after night. CBS advertises his “witticisms” every night to attract his New York and Los Angles – San Francisco based audience.

Allow me to be a bit more poignant.... Our nation did not have a sensitivity issue until recent years. For more than a century, absolutely nobody had issues with sports teams names or schools being named after confederate generals. These things were simply part of the great mix that came together to create our nations wonderful and diverse history. Sensitivity is an issue created wholly by the left and as I see it is the core of what has come to separate us as a nation. It is an innately poisonous non-issue that has come to tear us apart at the core. It is shameful really.

Ahhh! That is because we only had one dominant culture deciding what was appropriate and what wasn't. You know, the good days. It isn't so much about sensitivity, but more about social justice these days. If you've been apart of the dominant class your whole life, and there is no more dominant figure in the top social class than white males like you and I, then you will certainly feel like the rest of the social classes are getting more....well, uppity as they say down south. White males have had it pretty good in this country since its founding wouldn't you have to agree? A string of 43 consecutive white male presidents isn't a bad run. Social justice is a complicated issue for most people. They tend to approach it from the context of their own situation not objectively. In my opinion, anytime we rise above the shackles of traditional oppression, we are better off as a country. It isn't without some pain but in the end, it is always worth the struggle. Political intransigence preserves institutional racism and oppression and as a byproduct keeps those on top right where they want to be.

I do pride myself in that I consider myself a work in progress so to speak. I am also astute enough to realize that a message board will never wholly change a persons views. However I do appreciate posts like this that allow me to question my closely held views from another perspective. I am confident that I’ll spend the remainder of my days as a moderate conservative. As a businessman, I believe that I have to. However Joe, I do buy into this.... To a degree. And presented properly, it could be a used as a unifying platform rather than a polarizing one.

I’ll put forth a personal experience that I believe pertains. My state flew the confederate battle flag over its capital building since the end of the war between the states. A movement began some years ago to remove that flag. My initial response was defiance. It was a part of our states history and should remain. However one of the products my business provides is flagpoles and I was asked to meet with civic leaders at the state house several times to discuss replacing the battle flag with a number of flagpoles that would fly several historic flags on the grounds rather than the dome of the Capital. In doing so I became astutely aware of the harm the confederate flag was having. See, I would typically avoid confrontational places like this, but business dictated that I be in among the protests on several occasions. I did find myself sympathetic to the plight of those that thought other than myself.

So anyway, I’m confident that this old boy will not be seeing thing from a liberal bias anytime soon, I do appreciate the opportunity to grow and see views from outside my own experience.

We should all be a work in progress and take up the mantle of life-long learning. I find a significant number of people not only have no interest in life-long learning but stopped any learning activity at all a long time ago. I love learning new things I didn't know before because it makes me wonder why I didn't know them already. Honestly, there is no better teacher than reading good source material. Most of what you find in active forums on the internet is pretty much commentary and opinion dressed up as fact.
