This is old news, but I thought it might be interesting to talk about local news. Often seen as a more objective source than it's national counterparts, many stations have been bought by a media group known as Sinclair. Please watch the following clip and then check out if your favorite local news station is owned by Sinclair. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stations_owned_or_operated_by_Sinclair_Broadcast_Group
The way they operate is by allowing local news to be covered however the local stations please, but occasionally giving the stations mandatory stories they must put in their broadcast. This way they can slip a message in with the usual news you trust. The message in the clip above is about the rise in "fake news" as an attempt to assert themselves as the only trustable source, which seems especially insidious.
Requiring local news anchors to recite their scripts is pretty heavy-handed. They also require stations to air their editorial content during local news broadcasts. I admire their ruthless and clever approach to distributing propaganda, though not their agenda.
