I can't read your post Joe, but the title is accurate. The moose succumbs to tick infestations. Thousands of ticks can infest and draw blood from the moose until there's insufficient blood left for the moose to survive. It's sort of like the parasitic relationship between the billionaire who you want to pay the vast majority of taxes and those who pay none. The difference between the billionaire and the moose? Billionaires don't multiply . . .
Yet ticks aren't predators. Ticks are parasites. Mike failed as a result of self-imposed ignorance. Could be the GOP motto or epitaph.
Bigg's Killer Whale is another term for the "Transient" culture ("ecotype") of orcas, which feeds on mammals, while the "Resident" culture feeds on fish. Found a reference to a scientific paper that describes an attack by orcas on a pair of moose. "Oh Deer! A rare meal for mammal-hunting killer whales?"
Wolves have been known to run down moose, though, and I expect bears have taken an occasional moose as well.
A pack of wolves can take down an immature moose or a very sick moose but they stand no chance against a full grown healthy adult moose. Bears are completely out sized by an adult moose. My guess is that they pretty much just avoid each other. Sometimes the shortest distance to a female moose is close to the bears, but bears rarely try to kill giant moose. A bear attacking a moose is risky, and they have plenty of salmon to eat. This moose is an exceptionally large bull, with flattened antlers, a huge spread, and massive bulk.
