I'd like to thank Canada for Molson and Labatts, oh the days when I lived in Detroit as a youngster and we drove across the bridge to bring back a trunk full of the real stuff !! Only got caught once.

Detroit is the only place in the Continental 48 where you drive south to get to Canada
    ( that I know of )

I read back in the 1980's how an engine can run on a type of alcohol from sugercane. The entire Gulf Coast can grow that stuff. But I am sure the middle east owns most of our elected officals and our own big oil and detriot would most likely like to keep status quo as well,

Burns up your motor. Alcohol burns at a much much higher temperature than gasoline, in fact it will burn in a blue coloured flame. Gasoline burns in an orangish yellow coloured flame which curiously enough is a cooler burn.

A motor has to be converted and the metals hardened and better lubricated to burn alcohol. I ran some pure ethyl alcohol in a lawn mower once, and never did it again.

It is being done on an enormous scale in Brazil. Because Brazil was a developing country with not a lot of available funds for importing oil in the 1970's they came up with the whole sugar cane to alcohol fuel programme then. Now most of their cars can burn either alcohol based fuels or gasoline based fuels, and curiously they are energy independent as a result. The whole programme in the USA is based on corn based fuels, much much less efficient than the sugar cane based fuel programme and a lot more costly. Who says Brazil is Third World? Looks like they are on the right track.

The irony, a huge oil field was discovered a few years ago off the coast of Brazil, and they will likely end up being an oil exporter in the future.

Also, pure ethanol can corrode some metal and aluminum parts and degrade some rubber. IIRC, it breaks down into an acid or is a weak acid or some such. Chemistry was a long time ago. ;)

Also, it will loosen up 'gunk' in your gas tank and fuel system...which can be a good thing if you don't have a lot of gunk but a bad thing if you do have a lot of gunk...the gunk has to go somewhere (engine, fuel lines, etc).

We could do it now. One example:
Solar heating panels that look like spanish roof tile are on the market and if the nation gave about a couple of billion dollars to deflate the cost-you would not need coal, oil or natural gas to heat or cool off any of those houses or swimming pools in the southern and western states of this nation.

But I do not think the lobbist of the power companies would allow that.
We are a corrupt nation and leave ourselves open to be exploited and manipulated.

There is real genocide going around the world today against Christians. Google Dafur and see how muslims are killing in Africa inorder to make Africa an islamic continent. Google Nigeria and see how the muslims take the oil from the christian areas and pump it to the muslim areas and leave the christians in very poor conditions. Read how every few years the muslims go around and kill Christians in that nation. I could go on but I know there are those who will feel noble attacking me while ignoring or not caring or taking joy in that Christians are being killed on a daily basis around the world by muslilms for being christians.
But hey some christians said a bad word in a sermon, lets compare that to islamic terror.
