I quit playing in 2006, after my work slowed down following Katrina. I recently started playing again. Wow, I forgot how much I'd missed it!
Oh no, it's nothing like Farmville! UO has a fantasy-medieval theme, but it's much more than just that. It's got humans, elves, and gargoyles as player races and a variety of areas with much different appearances and rules. It's got four different magic sets (magery, mysticism, necromancy, and chivalry) and more armor styles and crafting skills than you can imagine. Any player can ride a horse or own a pack animal, but there are special mounts that have special skills themselves. There are individual quests and shard-wide events and you can play as little or as much as you like, alone or with a companion or with a guild. UO was the first massive, multiplayer online role-playing game ever created. This year will be its 15th anniversary. I started playing in 1998, on the Chesapeake shard. After a five year break, I'm back again. The people are awesome--I don't know why I left!
