Hurricane Relief in Western North Carolina

When you think of hurricane devastation, you typically think of coastal communities, not mountain communities and there are areas of Western North Carolina that are quite literally gone. Many communities that are entirely cut off.. Quite literally completely cut off... Perhaps because these are my neighbors and that I visit these areas frequently to trout fish I am very in tune with the carnage that Helene has brought to the area..... Today there are reports that FEMA is offering $750.00 to people affected and that the funds should be available in ten days.... REALLY?!?!!... First off, cash is of little use when infrastructure is gone. Secondly, aren't illegal migrants given phones, meal tickets and a free ride anywhere they would like to go in the nation?? These AMERICANS need food, water and dry clothes TODAY... Have we genuinely reached a place in our nation where we treat lawbreakers better than we treat Americans that have contributed something to our nation? I am just stunned at where the elite have brought us and I wouldn't wipe my backside with a single one of you.

Oh, but I would . . . and it wouldn't be my backside that benefited.

I just heard Mayorkas say FEMA was out of funds. In other words, the government is not going to be there for Western North Carolina. Where did the money go? To law breaking migrants???? I am disgusted that I bore arms for these people.

Airspace over the entire area was shut down from 12:00 to 4:00 today preventing private helicopter rescue missions from saving lives so Biden could have a photo op….. These people must get voted out. I have never in my life seen so much self promotion and incompetence.

That wasn’t a problem for the FEMA’s aerial crews, now was it?
Where is the leftist’s outrage about Harris’s and Biden’s response? They sure were vocal about Katrina.

I noticed you edited my post and attributed this disaster response to Biden. I’m sure you know that this individual is incompetent and is not making any calls. Please listen to his address today. This is Kamala’s incompetence. She may not be running things but she’s compliant with the ones that have been running this sh!t show for the last almost 4 years.

Yes, thank you….. We had trees down and some damage. But in way better shape than my neighbors. I don’t have power at my office still. But I am counting my blessings.

We have a local group that are trailering horses up to the mountains to get food to folks that are entirely cut off. If the Fed won't help, we will.

Regarding disaster relief, we have the means and the wealth to move mountains if we will. The month without power I've heard some are staring down is unacceptable.

But! You can't keep voting to defund the fed and then expect them to move those mountains. Several here frequently make the case the fed should be for nothing but national defense and interstate disputes. Do you think North Carolina should take care of this themselves then?

Also, this isn't going to stop, storms like this will happen alarmingly more often going forward.

Well I like real world analogies. If your wife was buying a thousand dollars of new shoes every month leaving you unable to pay the mortgage, where do you suppose that problem lies? The shoes? The cost of the mortgage? No, you would point the finger at your wife’s wonton spending habits wouldn’t you?

North Carolina isn't taking care of this themselves . . . donations and volunteers are pouring in from other states to help them, instead of waiting for its retarded federal "leadership" to step in.

I’ll hand it to you. That is funny. But keep this in mind with the winds of war wafting through the air….. I believe our armed forces are still the most powerful deterrent on the globe…. However, know that those who would like to see the US erased from this world are taking the lead technologically. If we are to maintain a peace through strength posture, we absolutely must keep up.

Now my gripe with how the purse strings are handled is the under the table means with which lawmakers do their dirty work. I’ll support your bill if you write me in a library for my constituency sort of garbage. I maintain that our elected grifters need to handle our money (and it is our money), be as thrifty as their own household finances. That has always been my beef with DC.
