A plant that makes massive earth moving tires is just up the road from me. The plant is huge and covers 5-6 acres. Three of those tires fill a shipping container…. And every one of them go in Chinese containers and hauled to the port to be loaded on Chinese freighters. And brother, business has been good…… We better wake up.
China's industrial and military buildup has been going on for a lot longer than most care to acknowledge. "We better wake up" is right.
It is the one true fear that I have. China is building warships at the rate of one per month. We are mothballing warships.

The SPENDING isn't the problem. IT IS THE BUILDING OF THE FLEET. The U.S.N has a 50+(FIFTY) Warship deficit. There is a DOD All Branches 1,300+ (THIRTEEN HUNDRED) Fighter/Bomber Aircraft deficit. COMBAT Helicopters? The shortage is of a magnitude that the DOD position has been...since the VN war....that ALL Branches can not support U.S. Troops in a combined Soviet-Red Chinese Land Invasion, and scary area acutely in the task of MedEvac. The U.S. can not...and has not...been able to execute combat operations on 2 Fronts, since 2003, at a level that ensures a TO&E above a score of 65. Find and peruse the various JANES publications concerning sea air and land equipment availability in the Free World. If doing so does not result in any citizen of any Free Country not understanding that not doing so will result in a conclusion that fighting on 2 Fronts now will not result in regression to caves and rubbing 2 sticks together for fire, then those individuals have been mentally absorbed into the world of Tweety -Bird and W.E. Coyote cartoons. Why no equipment? Read the CR for the last 10-15 years. The CR is your true friend. The rest of the blahblah is rotten lemons splattered by throwing against a wall, and thinking it will be transformed into sweetness.
Never heard of 'earth moving tires'. But I know about tires for earth moving equipment. Terex comes to mind. Odd that they need to import them and can't make their own. We should raise the price.
Short-sightedness will just make things worse. Raise the price and they will tool up and make them there . . . Just like all of the other jobs we’ve exported.
