He has a lot to live up to. Hopefully he is the man he has campaigned as rather than the legislator he has served as. I have my doubts.

On the other hand, I can't wait for my free stuff. All you rich people out there better start writing me checks right now. Let the redistribution begin. ;)

Congratulations to President-Elect Obama. Also, congratulations to We, the People...once again we have decided by the ballot, not the bullet. Like Stu, I have my doubts, but let's see what the next few months bring.

Well it is 5.30 in the morning here and I have been up for nearly 24h now but I have to say it has been a enthralling election :D Congratulations I believe are in order to President Elect Obama :D I would also like to say that Senetor John McCains speach was one of the most graciouse that I have had the privlage of listning to and he deserves much praise for that.
President Elect Obamas speach also deserves to be mentioned here it I think will bring hope for better times to many Americans and also for those who live beyond your borders.
Today guy's we have seen history made :D

It was a good speech but hope will only get the country through about the first 100 days. After that Americans usually expect results. ;)

I want to start by saying I normaly don't get involved in political discusions, I am not racist and untill this year I have never voted for a republican presidential candidate.

That said, I think this is a sad day. The Obama energy policy alone is going to be a huge setback and cost us a lot of money. When the cost of enrgy goes up the economy will tank even worse. Hard working people and succesfull corporations are going to be punished for their hard work and the lazy will be rewarded.
We will not be allowed to drill for our own oil as outside interests will siphon it from the side. He said he would raise surcharges/taxes on electric companys to help clean up greenhouh gasses and says if we build coal fired power plants they won't be able to survive with these high outside goverment inflicted costs. when all this is going on we are supposed to properly inflate our car tires and put in energy efficient light bulbs in our houses to offset the rise in energy cost.... sorry I have allready done that.
I guess my coin budget will have to be used to pay bills again.

    A sad day.:(

Obama & the media have already started to warn against high expectations. Really? I heard Obama backing up last night by cautioning us that we may not see results in the first year or even the first term. THE FIRST TERM?? That's 4 years folks. I thought he was the savior, the messiah?
I checked this morning, my 401k is still down...we are still in Iraq...what's he waiting for? Anybody got a check yet? Not me! He promised he had a plan to fix everything & he starts backing up on election day?

Doesnt he have to assume office in January? Of course you knew that, you were just being silly. I mean if you say I'm going to mow the lawn; is it suddenly mowed? Or do you have to get a hold of the mower and actually do it? I'm sure that if McCain won you wouldnt post that this morning your 401k was bursting at the seems, Or that thered be pictures on Fox showing even more troops boarding planes for Bagdad.

    Very well put tonylynch.

I know I've seen my share of candidates I voted for lose. Suck it up and at least give the guy voted in a chance.

Congrats to Obama and those who support him. He ran a brilliant campaign. One thing I would like to thank him for is the demoralization and defeat of the Clinton Machine, quite an accomplishment to say the least.

I did not vote for him, but he is now my President. For the sake of our nation, I wish him well, I wish us well. Any elected President deserves our respect, and he has mine.

No, but I certainly wouldn't expect you to immediately begin pushing the start time back, back, back.

The Dow Jones fell 486 points today upon hearing B.O. was elected last night

Oh wait!...he is going to take care of me. And put gas in my car!!

Like Ms. Peggy Joseph...your typical socialist liberal that can't wait for B.O. to pay her mortgage:

You have to see it...it IS the dumbing down of America. What a shame!

A poor, weak, and needy population is easier to control. Why do you think we were given two amnesty loving options to vote for? Every illegal that runs across the border is a vote. Need proof? New Mexico.

Didn't Bush already sign a bill to do that back in July? Socialism is as socialism does.

McCain isn't exactly a shining beacon of conservative ideals.

Conservative ideals have really served the country well in 8 years of Bush , moving towards the center can't be worse .
