The republican-controlled state of North Carolina has been a bee-hive of activity for protesters combating the states recent string of civil abuses against the poor and minorities. Hundreds arrested in NC protests combating Republican attacks on social programs Meredith Clark, @MeredithLClark 12:17 PM on 06/08/2013 More than 150 people engaged in civil disobedience were arrested at the North Carolina statehouse on Monday, at the latest of a series of protests against aggressive legislative action by state Republican leaders. The weekly protests, known as “Moral Mondays,” began in late April as a response to the North Carolina GOP’s efforts to cut social programs, education resources, and change voting laws. After Pat McCrory was elected governor in 2012, conservative Republicans have held a monopoly on power in the state and have pushed their agenda through, outraging a broad coalition of North Carolinians that includes clergy, civil rights activists and residents. Big deal. NC today sounds like a microcosm of the federal government from 2009-2011 under Obama, Pelosi and Reid. They pushed their agenda on the entire country in spite of protests against them. Elections have consequences. The best way to protest is to vote. I hope they don't burn down the State House in NC, however. I abhor violence.
I don't know what your source is, but the middle picture seems to be from a rally in Asheville, NC in 2011 by an organization called "GoTopless". See link below. I'm betting the top picture is from the same source. Not sure how it relates to what's happening currently in NC http://raelnews.org/news.php?item.447.10 The last picture appears to be from some sort of gay pride thing. Not sure about the pictures of the people with their mouths taped. Will work on tracking these down as well.
Well it WAS a NC protest, just not the one you're trying to associate it with. As I say, I'm working on the others.
The URL for the single topless woman is http://www.darktopography.com/images/blog2011/08aug/boobfest13.jpg Going back to Boobfest 2011 in Asheville I found another picture of her.http://www.mountainx.com/article/45150/Asheville-Argus-Covering-Boobfest I think it's safe to say that both the picture you posted and the picture I found are from the same event two years ago and not the recent protest referred to in the OP. The photos of the people with their mouths taped appear to be from April of this year and are probably related to the protest movement referred to in th OP. http://colorlines.com/archives/2013..._harsh_voter_id_college_students_protest.html The gay one is identified as being from the archives of The Advocate. I can't find it. It might or might not be relevant, but I doubt it. I don't think gay rights are a major issue in this thing.
Here's a pic of some of the protesters giving what looks like a Nazi salute. Hard to say for certain, though: View attachment 1736 http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/n...uring-NAACP-protest-4573307.php#photo-4730524
Takiji..."Going back to Boobfest 2011": So this is what happens when a gay guy invents a time machine? I thought I understood you, Takiji, I thought you understood my desire to go back to Boobfest 2011, that you would invite me to come along. But no, I guess I don't know you at all. (slaps forehead) Oh, I forgot! There's only room for one at a time. Sorry for jumping to conclusions...like some people here do ...it can be contagious sometimes, forgive me.
I remember some images of people with taped mouths too, from a couple of months back. Not violent. I remember women going topless at some event too. Not violent, and three thumbs up.
Don't worry, I'm going to add a sidecar. Actually, if you want to go back to 2011 for Boobfest, I'll just give you the keys.
I don't think that they can be Tea Partiers. To many brown faces. Plus it looks like the messages on the signs are spelled correctly.
Pardon me, but what does "brown faces" have to do with anything? I'm not sure what you're implying, but I hope it's not racist. And yes, the signs are spelled correctly (the few that we can see), so we know Occupy Wall Street isn't involved, at least.
I'll not imply anything, I state it flat out. I believe that the Tea Party consists in large part of racist sh*ts
I hate to say this, Takiji, but your comment about "to [sic] many brown faces" is rather racist. When you do that, you're distinguishing people based on the color of their skin.
Teabaggers are as white as snow. If you see a group of people and there is any diversity in their ranks, they aren't Teabaggers. If you see a group of Teabaggers and a brown face in their midst, the brown face has a worried look on it.
