While the Fed Rate may be a wee bit high @ 1-1/2 points above the current inflation rate; The initial impact of imposing tariffs and retaliation thereof should reduce the spread over the short term (next 6 months or so). The Fed Rate is already below historical average. The Dollar is trending weaker and with the Fed tapering quantitative tightening I am comfortable with no change in the Fed Rate @ this time. 1/4 point reduction - why?
