    Weiner Launches: I'm In
Anthony Weiner announced his campaign for mayor early this morning with — what else? — a leak.

Shortly after midnight, the disgraced ex-congressman’s campaign accidentally posted online a 2-minute, 16-second video in which he throws his hat into the ring, lays out his platform — and even acknowledges the scandal that ended his days in DC.

“Look, I made some big mistakes and I know I let a lot of people down. But I’ve also learned some tough lessons,” he says in the video. “I hope I get a second chance to work for you.”

The clip ends with Weiner on a stoop sitting next to his wife, former Hilary Rodham Clinton aide Huma Abedin, saying, “I will fight for you every single day.”

The stoop scene was shot May 16, according to pictures of the set taken by The Post.

The video — which came out just a few days short of the second anniversary of the day Weiner tweeted a sext of his bulging undies — ends with a logo: “Anthony Weiner for Mayor.”

Sources told The Post that the oddly timed video was legitimate, but that campaign staffers intended for the announcement to come out later today.

The video was posted on a campaign Web site and was then taken down, and then put back up. It also could be seen on YouTube.

In it, the former Queens congressman talks nostalgically about growing up in Brooklyn, notes that his mother was a teacher, and says he liked to watch the Mets play at Shea as a kid.

He also says he would work to lower rents and home prices and lift regulations on small business.

He also touts his 64-point plan for the city.

The announcement comes after Weiner spent the past few months hinting at a run, which until recently had been seen as a long shot.

He resigned amid the 2011 scandal, in which he tweeted suggestive images to a young woman — and humiliatingly had to admit that he had lied when he first said that his Twitter account had been hacked.

Weiner, who had been considering a mayoral bid even before the scandal — and who barely lost the 2005 Democratic primary for mayor to Fernando Ferrer — has amassed a $4.8 million war chest.

He joins a crowded field of Democrats trying to succeed Mayor Bloomberg.

Even you have to admit that the Weiner scandal and his subsequent run for mayor is tailor made for jokes, Moron Joe. I mean.. really. He's going to have some stiff competition and if erected... er... elected is he going to be soft on unions and hard on crime? Who will he have on his staff?

Even New Yorkers know they can do better than The Weiner.

I guess playground humor is a form of humor. I always like humor. If that is YOUR preferred type of humor.....Oh well. I can just see you giggling endlessly over wiener jokes in the dark with only the light from your computer revealing your right hand firmly gasping.... I'm sorry, I don't want to pass judgement, you might be left-handed.

Heheh.. you have quite the vivid imagination and if you want to imagine me like that, well, to each his own I suppose.

Anyway, The Weiner is not only a joke for tweeting his weiner, but for his policies, too:

The Weiner was also one of the main people who shoved Obamacare on (up?) us...then promptly moved to have his constituents exempted, citing their "unique ability to make their own healthcare decisions".

Andrew Cuomo certainly doesn't like The Weiner:
Cuomo: Weiner NYC mayoral win would be a 'shame'
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said it would be a "shame" if Anthony Weiner was elected mayor of New York City.
Speaking to editors at the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper Wednesday, the governor, who also leads the state Democratic Party, weighed in on a Weiner candidacy for the first time.
Weiner is back on the political scene two years after a series of raunchy text messages ended his congressional career.
The exchange in Syracuse went like this, with Stephen Rogers, chairman of the Syracuse Media Group, asking:
"So if Anthony Weiner wants to run for mayor, he can run for mayor?"
    Cuomo: "He runs? He runs."
Rogers: "And if we elect him?"
    Cuomo: "Shame on us."
Earlier Wednesday, Cuomo had pointedly stayed away from the topic. Asked to comment on Weiner's candidacy, he answered: "None. No reaction. None."
Cuomo has not yet endorsed any of the Democrats running in September's primary.
In New Paltz on Thursday, Cuomo ducked the question about the "shame" comment, saying only that he didn't have an official position on the mayor's race.
"And I'm going to leave it at that," he said.
Cuomo spokesman Richard Azzopardi declined comment.
A spokeswoman for the Weiner campaign did not comment.
Weiner is among several Democrats who hope to succeed Michael Bloomberg.

I agree with David on post-first-trimester abortions, which Weiner supports, though we disagree on first-trimester abortions. I will agree that the practice is extremely distasteful, though.
