Bachmann Threatens to Leave Minnesota Over Marriage Equality
    May. 13, 2013

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann threatened to leave Minnesota today if the state goes ahead with its plans to legalize gay marriage.

In an interview with a local television station, the conservative firebrand said she believes God will destroy Minneapolis once the legislation is enacted, and wants to be far away when the reckoning happens.

"The Bible is very clear on this issue," she told KSTP-TV this morning. "Homosexuality is a sin, and God will punish communities that support it.

"Sodom and Gomorrah thought they could defy the will of God, and we all know what happened to them. If the governor signs this legislation into law the Minneapolis-St. Paul region will be next.

"I have a friend from Eden Prairie who's already packed everything she owns into her car and is driving out to Montana as we speak. These are very scary times. I don't want my family to be the last ones out."

    God Hates Rainbows
Minnesota is set to legalize same sex marriage tomorrow when Governor Mark Dayton (D) is expected to sign a bill passed last week in the legislature.

It will become the 12th such state in America after Delaware and Rhode Island passed marriage equality legislation earlier this year, and the first Midwestern state to pass gay marriage though the legislative process.

Although none of the other states has suffered from Biblical-like destruction, Minnesota's most outspoken voice in Congress told anchor Bruce Nolan that it's only a matter of time.

"I don't know what it will be, Bruce," she said. "It could be an earthquake. It could be a volcano. It could be some sort of flesh eating virus. All I know is that God does not let homosexuality go unpunished, and Minneapolis is next in line for his wrath.

"It breaks my heart to think that the Democrats are willing to play politics with the lives of so many Minnesotans. And I hate to leave so many of my constituents behind, but I urge them - please, please - follow my example and get your loved ones to safety before it's too late."

In a subsequent interview with The Daily Currant, Bachmann says she's not sure where she'll go if she leaves, but is seriously considering Oregon as a possibility since its constitution bans same sex marriage.

"I've heard wonderful things about Eugene," she says, "and I think (Democratic) Congressman (Peter) DeFazio may be vulnerable to a challenge. They're the nicest people in the world out there. I'm sure we'd be welcomed with open arms."

Leave it to YOU to defend this bat-sh#@ crazy witch. Did you even read her comments? Does that really sound like sane person to you? I mean seriously without casting aspersions on the entire Right-wing over this nut case, don't you think that she is just a few fries short of a Happy Meal?

To further beg the question, she isn't the entire Republican Party but she does represent a contingency of the Right's base. She is to the Right what people like Jesse Jackson is to the Left. The embarrassing in-laws that have nowhere else to go. :D

I'm defending no one. She's entitled to her opinion the same as you and I are entitled to ours. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's a valid opinion nor does it mean that it's invalid. It's just an opinion.

As far as her sanity, I'm not a psychologist so I can't offer a diagnosis of that. However, I'm quite interested in your educational background in psychology that would qualify you to make such a statement. Would you care to share your educational background that would qualify you to diagnose someone's sanity whom, I presume, you've never even met?

If I tell you in some post that I think what you are saying about Obama for example is hyperbole, exaggerated, innuendo, half-truth, or just plain wrong, I am characterized by YOU and your ilk as an Obama apologists, an Obama zombie, an Obama drone, etc. You assume any opinion I have that you don't share makes me not in control of my own faculties because I must be under some spell of ignorance.
Now, when you have a woman in her own words saying some bat-sh#@ crazy nonsense, suddenly, she is entitled to own opinion. I find ironic that you can be so accepting of a crazy person's opinion (my opinion) and yet so intolerant of the opinions of other people. What does that make you?

LOL. You might try reading that sentence aloud and consider rephrasing it. That is just TOO funny! Anyway, is "crazy" a technical term used in psychology? I find it hard to believe you can psychoanalyze this person having never even met her nor possessing any education in the field of psychiatry. You're simply spewing an opinion based on nothing other than your own bias which, in turn, makes your opinion pure rubbish.

I feel that changing a Right-winger's obsession with taking things out of context is probably beyond my capabilities. What else do you have?
Take my word for this: You will never find the word "crazy" used by any psychological professional nor in their literature unless you go back a couple of dozen decades. A technical term? Not so much, it's a derogatory term for people with mental health issues. I CAN psychoanalyze someone by the words they use in public quite easily. That brings me back to my original question. Do you believe this kind of religious-based nonsense spewed by an elected official regardless of her right to her opinion? It doesn't sound kind of crazy that God is going to destroy Minnesota? Really?

You have every right to be just as "crazy" as you say Michelle Bachmann is. And you are.

I'm sorry; Michelle lacks sound judgement on about every level. She got reelected, so her constituents, many of whom are liberals, must accept her foibles as part of the package. She displays a lack of a sense of proportion; for instance, right out of the gate, her thinking that she was a viable candidate. I hoped that after the primaries, shed go away.

We can take consolation in the fact that there are a lot more and of lower quality in the Democrat caucus.

She is entitled to her religious-based opinion. I would remind her that religious-based opinions are for religious use, not governmental. Claiming that an entire city is going to be destroyed by god if gays are treated equally under the law of the State is beyond stupidity. Hell, it may even be criminal, if riots broke out, say.

Religious nuts are somewhat entertaining. Electing religious nuts is insane, since they can't govern wisely.

The funniest part is that this "story" is from The Daily Currant a satirical rag much like the Onion, nobody disbelieved that Bachmann would say something this idiotic. What does that tell you about old crazy eyes? :D

Yes, and so many people fell for it.

If it were true my main concern would be where would she move to? Or what planet?

I wouldn't want her in my state.

I like her. She makes me laugh. I wouldn't mind her living in our neighborhood. And it would be much safer for all of us having her be insane here than in Washington. There are lots of nice coffee shops for her to hang out in and a number of other nutty people of all persuasions for her to interact with and she would not be in a position of power and would not be able to do any damage.

That's how I feel about Hillary Clinton. She could wear her goofy pants and funny glasses, drop some peyote, sit around and talk about electric cars and how she was the target of sniper fire, but then lied about it. She could probably string some beads together or make some candles. As long as she doesn't regain an iota of power, the country will be better off.

I think that she was considering becoming Swiss. I bet that they wouldn't be neutral about that.
