I thought since there is a lot of discussion on the ineptness of news organizations, I'd start a thread on the worst offender of all, FOX. Feel free to add quotes or video, as they're easily a dime a million.

Here are a few quotes from Fox News from the past few months. Hard to believe they thought anyone would take them as truth, but apparently, their viewers accept most anything as truth:

"The IRS is going to be "in charge" of "a huge national database" on health care that will include Americans’ "personal, intimate, most close-to-the-vest-secrets."

"The IRS is "going to be in charge of our health care."

"The IRS will have the ability potentially" to deny or delay health care."

"We had people that were getting killed (in Benghazi), we had people who are willing to risk their lives to go save them, and somebody told them to stand down."

"75 percent of the (air traffic control) towers the Obama Administration is closing are located in Republican Congressional Districts."

"after Hurricane Sandy, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg "refused to allow the National Guard into the city to restore civil order because Guardsmen carry guns!"

"The group that supported the president’s health care bill the most? Latinos."

"There are more people killed with baseball bats and hammers than are killed with guns."

"Under President Barack Obama, "8.3 (million) fewer Americans are working today than there were four years ago."

    This is easy...

A collection of some of the most ridiculous and insane statement ever made by Fox News bloviators, including Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, and others.

    Bill O'Reilly Quotes

"If I'm the president of the United States, I walk right into Union Square, I set up my little presidential podium, and I say, 'Listen, citizens of San Francisco, if you vote against military recruiting, you're not going to get another nickel in federal funds. Fine. You want to be your own country? Go right ahead. And if Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco. You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead.'" --Bill O'Reilly, after San Francisco voted to ban military recruiters from city schools, Nov. 8, 2005

"I just wish Katrina had only hit the United Nations building, nothing else, just had flooded them out, and I wouldn't have rescued them." --Bill O'Reilly on his radio show, Sept. 14, 2005 "I'll tell you what. I've been in combat. I've seen it, I've been close to it... and if my unit is danger, and I've got a captured guy, and the guy knows where the enemy is, and I'm looking him in the eye, the guy better tell me. That's all I'm gonna tell you. The guy better tell me. If it's life or death, he's going first." –Bill O'Reilly, on his experience as a journalist covering firefights in South and Central America, Jan. 18, 2005

"If the Americans go in and overthrow Saddam Hussein and it's clean, he has nothing, I will apologize to the nation, and I will not trust the Bush Administration again, all right?" -Bill O'Reilly, on finding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, March 18, 2003

"You know what’s really frightening? You actually have an influence on this presidential election. That is scary, but it’s true. You’ve got stoned slackers watching your dopey show every night and they can vote." –Bill O'Reilly to "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart, Sept. 22, 2004

    Sean Hannity Quotes

"Here you are, you're a liberal, probably define peace as the absence of conflict. I define peace as the ability to defend yourself and blow your enemies into smithereens." —Fox News host Sean Hannity (October 2009)

"Halloween is a liberal holiday because we're teaching our children to beg for something for free. … We're teaching kids to knock on other people's doors and ask for a handout." —Fox News host Sean Hannity (October 31, 2007)

"[Liberal rhetoric] now is so over the top, it's so vicious, it's so mean, it's so cruel, and I don't hear this coming from conservatives about liberals." —Fox News host Sean Hannity, with a straight face.

    Glenn Beck Quotes

"This president I think has exposed himself over and over again as a guy who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture....I'm not saying he doesn't like white people, I'm saying he has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist." –Glenn Beck on President Obama, sparking an advertiser exodus from his FOX News show, July 28, 2009

"I went to the movie this weekend with a gun. And surprise, surprise, I didn't kill anybody!" --Glenn Beck

"When you see the effects of what they're doing to the economy, remember these words: We will survive. No -- we'll do better than survive, we will thrive. As long as these people are not in control. They are taking you to a place to be slaughtered!" --Glenn Beck, on FOX News, Nov. 3, 2009

"Some may believe we're on the road to the Hitler youth." --Glenn Beck, on teaching kids about climate change, Fox News's Glenn Beck show, Feb. 5, 2009

"I am not saying that Barack Obama is a fascist. If I'm not mistaken, in the early days of Adolf Hitler, they were very happy to line up for help there as well. I mean, the companies were like, 'Hey, wait a minute. We can get, you know, we can get out of trouble here. They can help, et cetera, et cetera.'" --Glenn Beck, comparing government bailouts of auto companies to actions of German companies during the rise of Hitler, Fox News's Glenn Beck show, April 1, 2009

"You have the artwork of Mussolini there, here in New York at Rockefeller Plaza." –Glenn Beck, analyzing the artwork decorating Rockefeller Plaza, which he said contained a hammer and sickle, Glenn Beck show on FOX News Channel, Sept. 2, 2009

"O-L-I-G-A-R-H-Y." –misspelling "oligarchy" on his chalk board while claiming he had deciphered a secret code that he said was proof President Obama was trying to create an "Oligarhy," Aug. 27, 2009, Glenn Beck show on FOX News Channel

"I could give a flying crap about the political process ... We're an entertainment company." --FOX News Channel's Glen Beck, Forbes interview; April, 2010

    More Fox News Quotes

"America was certainly safe between 2000 and 2008. I don't remember any attacks on American soil during that period of time." —Fox News Channel host Eric Bolling, forgetting 9/11 (July 2011)

"This is what being president of the United States is all about. It’s these tough, huge monumental decisions. It’s not about how you run a campaign. It’s not about whether or not you’re popular. It’s not about whether or not you’re a celebrity, good looking, tall or short. It’s in the time of crisis making these executive decisions. It’s just like our job – from a day-to-day basis, a lot of times where there’s big breaking news, we just sort of roll along. But what’s the role of an anchor during huge breaking news? Remember growing up? You tune to the television, and during that one moment during the year, they would have to carry a story all alone. It’s the same thing as being the President of the United States." --Fox News Channel's Gretchen Carlson, comparing her job hosting a talk show to being president (June 24, 2010)

“The only problem with talking about Sarah Palin is that she works here, and it’s like a coworker. And if I say something bad and I see her in the hallway I feel really awkward and wrong. So I just kind of say, ‘that was a good job!'" –Greg Gutfeld, co-host of Fox News's Channel's "The Five," to his co-host Bob Beckel, who agreed, saying, "It has everything to do with your paycheck. That’s why you feel awkward. I know exactly what you mean. I’ll be honest, I’ve pulled my punches.” (August 3, 2011)

The following exchange between Fox News hosts Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly took place during a November 2011 discussion in which they tried to downplay the impact of pepper spray on student Occupy protesters at UC Davis:
O’Reilly: "First of all, pepper spray—that just burns your eyes, right?"
Kelly: "It’s like a derivative of actual pepper. It’s a food product, essentially."

Great quotes Guy. This could be a never-ending thread lol

I want to share a story about health care, after reading this:
I broke my hand as a teen. I went to the doc's to get it fixed. They looked at it, charged me $$$ and sent me on my way. They didn't do a damn thing. They didn't set the bone. They didn't put a cast on it. They charged me for nothing, nothing at all. The bone is severely deformed, but my hand is more-or-less OK today. I've never gone to them again for treatment of a broken bone, and I've had several since then, one on the same hand, another on a leg, for examples. They wonder why.

You may wonder why I didn't insist. Money. It's also the reason they didn't do anything for me, they knew I was poor. I knew this immediately, and grudgingly accept it, to a point. I understand their reasoning, and mine, so I walked out the door pissed and in pain.

    Thanks docs.

republicans in particular do not understand the point I am making here. They claim the IRS is going to be managing my healthcare, which is bs of course, but they miss my main point entirely: I don't have health care, and the Democrats in the government are trying to see that I do. Hell, I'd let the IRS manage my health care, since it'd mean I'd actually be getting it then.

I posted a link in a thread recently, to an image of a "Welcome!" sign in Wisconsin, presumably by the Illinois border. It echoes O'Really's comment above. It read something like "Welcome to Wisconsin"...blah blah blah..."Attention terrorists: Many of our citizens carry guns, go to Chicago if you want to cause trouble." Mind you, I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it.

Both O'really and Wisconsin are inviting terrorists to attack places they themselves do not like. Isn't that criminal? If not, it's unbelievably stupid....I mean really really stupid. Of course, they are, they are republicans expressing themselves. I get O'Really doing it, but a state? Sheesh, are they dumb!

So, you've chosen to remain poor your entire life?
You will spend hour after hour on the computer but refuse to take my 5 minutes necessary to manage your own health?

It's called "personal responsibility". He can't manage his own health care, but wants someone... anyone... to do it for him.

You better watch out Guy, O'Really's gotcha:
Silly O'Really...you are not "the guy", you are Guy Medley, or "Guy" for short...but not "the guy"...

Something tells me you're not too worried though. Something tells me O'Really would soon be unconscious, or at least writhing on the floor bloody crying, should he make the attempt to MAKE you tell him.

Five horrified screaming rhesus monkeys says that some people here will claim my comment above is a threat and report it as such. Be my guest, you flaming fact-dodgers.

Two points: Did he ever apologize?...and people knew there wasn't any wmd's and he was acknowledging their concerns, something they occasionally deny today.

...then you should have prefaced your post with FOX News "guest" or "former employee" because your suggestion that Beck is an actual employee of FOX News, as Hannity or O'Reilly happen to be, is factually incorrect.
**Bet you didn't catch that in your cut & paste, did you?

I guess your memory is fading. David asked "Does Glen Beck work for FOX News .." That is present tense. Remember this?

All the Beck quotes he posted were before 2011 when Fox fired him, so they were still quoted on Fox by a Fox employee. A network doesn't eliminate liability for actions taken during an employee's employment after they let them go later on. Those quotes are still owned by Fox.

So, then, for the sake of truthfulness, shouldn't fog-of-war moen refer to Beck as a "former employee"?

    Uh huh.

My mother was one of them. As she was poor, had terminal cancer, and the minimum care required by the law. She did indeed desire a handout, and did indeed receive handouts throughout her life, but not enough to keep her from suffering for decades, not enough to extend her life, as Obamacare could have. She died at 61, typical, for a poor person.

Healthcare-wise, poor people are practically living in the 19th century. Obamacare seeks to change that. Yes, it's a handout. What republicans fail to understand is the return on that investment. Healthy poor people work more, produce more, and contribute to society more. Those are not small things.

In some ways, I intentionally refuse to contribute to society, since society intentionally refuses to contribute to me.

btw: There's that yin-yang thing again, you'll find it everywhere in my posts, if you know how to look for it.

    Returning to my first point:

That has been more-or-less accurate for most of my life. I'm saying "David you!" But I don't have that luxury anymore, and so I am here. ;)

Mind you, it's only accurate to a certain degree. A small, nearly insignificant degree, but a degree nonetheless.
