Well, sometimes it can. Just look at Solyndra et al. And then there is the Congress and the President. But there is one thing in common amongst those examples.
Really? If you will have Obamacare, try to get treated at the UCLA medical center (as well as others less well known). Oh, and if you live in most of Mississippi, guess how much competition there is.
It's not like health insurance through an employer is a faulty electronic product that you simply return for a refund. You are locked in for a year until the next enrollment period. Most people can't even tell you what they pay for health insurance when they get it through their employer. I have exactly one choice of health coverage where I live. One HMO. What other "product" would I be switching to in my situation? Many people have exactly this same problem. So please don't be so naive as to think that the market is simply going to take care of poor health insurance providers. They have gamed the market specifically to prevent this from ever happening.
Obviously you've not been in the position of negotiating your group plan. I have. If you believe for a second that the insurance carriers don't want the group happy it is you who is delusional. It may simply be a matter of who, on the employer side, is applying the pressure...in this regard insurance companies aren't much different than any other retailer.
Joe, I think they'd be happier if their tax dollars went to cover the billions of dollars the government has had to compensate the healthcare providers with when the uninsured have needed help. They don't equate that as money spent because Obama didn't sign legislation for it, so its ok.
Do you believe your insurance company would risk losing that group over a few claims? I'd be willing to bet, in order to get the group signed up in the first place, the insurance company made a lot of concessions to the state. I'd also bet a great deal of pressure would be applied to the insurance company if your plan administrators started to hear a bunch of horror stories too. ...and to answer your question, do I think YOU could do better on your own? Um, no. I doubt you'd be capable.
Uh, let's see.... billions (your number) then vs trillions now? Doesn't seem like a difficult choice...
Then the health care exchange in my state is my best option. Thanks for debunking another Right-wing talking point. You rock!
Do I plan to? If it turns out I can get better coverage, hell ya! But group policies tend to be slightly better due to the whole power of buying as a group. If it turns out that getting health insurance through the exchange is cheaper, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
But I thought insurance is $2500/yr cheaper through Obamacare? Has your current policy premium reduced by more than $2500/yr? That's the savings BO promised.
Keep us posted...I'm interested to know what you find out. At some point I hope to retire and may have to navigate those waters.
I BO was being honest, fog-of-war's premium will go down $2500/yr (or over $200/mo). If he believed BO were being truthful he would have already signed up. This proves a point: No one on the left wants Obamacare, they just want everyone else to have Obamacare.
If you retire when you're 65, it won't be an issue. Then, you'll actually have government health care.
