I would like to end up with a simple list of facts that we can pass around on the Internet, starkly showing that Hitler WANTED his favored race to outgun everybody else, starting back from the days before he came to power. That included communists, socialists and Jews; and five years later, Jewish citizenship was revoked altogether. More, on June 12, 1933, an executive order banned the importation of guns. And if you were a state employee, a Nazi Party member or part of a civil defense team, you did not need a license to buy and carry a handgun. However, I know that in later years the armed forces required all soldiers in conquered countries to carry handguns. Since there weren't enough guns for everybody, pistols were obtained from every possible source - seizing the guns of the conquered armies, buying guns from Spain, etc. Presumably at some point Germans were asked to give up pistols they owned to equip the troops. Near the end of the war it also became necessary to round up rifles to equip the last-ditch units being formed to stop the Allied advance. This may have contributed to later confusion about the sequence of events in Germany. We must also recall the early days when the Brownshirts were a private militia comprising 4 million men, practically all the men in the party. Today's right-wing militiamen should consider what their leaders will do to them if they ever gain control of the government and military. But I have believed for a very long time that if the right-wingers got into power here, they would find a way to take weapons only from those they hate. The "evolution" of the concept of the enemy combatant under bastards like John Yoo was tending towards the isolation and demonization of enemies of the GOP, such that the main body of American gun-owners would feel no sympathy or personal threat from their disarming if it should occur.

The narrative of "Nazi = leftist" is one of the most cherished myths (as you've correctly identified it) held by the self-deluded right wing. My personal favorite is their crazy actual belief that the Republicans brought about the civil rights movement because the Dixiecrats were aligned with the Democrats prior to civil rights legislation. They can't quite explain why the South was lost for a generation and beyond and joined with the Right over this very issue if it was the Right that was pushing civil rights that the south hated. In reality, the Dixiecrats were a small faction of the Democrats and they were not in line with the values of the Left and found a party that more reflected their racism in the GOP. But don't tell our Righties that, they prefer an alternate reality.

I really don't know how history may have changed had guns not been banned...do you? I'll bet the Jews (and millions of other "enemies of the state") wished they had the opportunity to find out though. At any rate, Hitler banned guns and BO is attempting to follow his example! I think I made it pretty clear that Hitler did not ban guns. He didn't want his enemies to have them but who does? Do you seriously think a few small arms were going to defeat the German military? That is just as dumb as the gun nuts in this country thinking they could defeat our military with what they own and pretty much treasonous to even consider doing so. Even the Second Amendment wasn't conceived of to take out the armed forces of this country. That's another gun nut lie. The history of Germany or even the early history of this country have next to nothing to do with the realities of gun ownership today. Hitler's Germany and Colonial America have zero in common with the America of today.

Criminals, people with psychological problems, people under 18, people with restraining orders for domestic violence, and maybe some others I can't think of. How many people have been banned so far?
The ones you mentioned are certainly prohibited and I don't disagree with it but the problem is the movement to ban gun ownership by law abiding folks.

I don't think the gun-banning libs have the balls to do it on a grand scale...instead they work in the shadows and chip away bit by bit. You are a perfect example of this- you aren't willing to just come out & state plainly what you want to see done in regards to gun ownership.
