Let's see here. When exactly did I EVER state that my wife doesn't work? Just so happens she does. Yes, you struck a nerve there rlm. Does that make you happy? An asinine assumption there amigo. Please think before you type and insult my wife. I don't insult your family. Now this made a bit more sense and I considered it. One problem though I was SICK and missing work because of it due to NOT being able to afford insurance. So, not realistic when you get down to it. I've managed a few businesses in my time and if you hire someone and they are calling off frequently (which I was) you're not going to keep that person around too long are you? I know I wouldn't. It costs money to train people for starters and then if they don't work out it's a waste of money. Even if they DO train well missed work is not productive for the company. Been there and done that. So I realized I was not a good candidate even if I could find an additional/other job. Of course I could have "toughed it out" and made it even worse for my personal health. All so I could afford insurance. As a footnote my boss was damn good about it. He drives me up a wall sometimes but he put up with my absences and was the first to visit me in the hospital.
Yep, those jobs just abound these days don't they David. Go ahead and blame President Obama. I like to get the predictable stuff out of the way first when I can. Now back when me and my wife first got married we both had insurance. Came with the job. Even when we changed jobs it was usually part of the package. If, for some reason, you actually think that is as common these days you might be seriously delusional. I have David. All my life. Not at all David and thanks for the condescending insult. As amazing as it might seem I believe most people DON'T want to rely on the "gubmint". Many have worked many years at honest jobs and then end up in a bind. I guess "screw them" is a sensible policy to some.
You said you could not afford insurance and then you got sick. Else, you have been sick your entire life?
Not sure quite how you mean that but I'll answer anyway. I have not been sick my entire life. On and off and for the last 20 years. I have landed in the hospital three times. One involved rather major surgery and I spent ten days in the hospital. We had insurance then. The first involved seven days in the hospital. We had insurance. The most recent involved three days in the hospital. I had no insurance. I couldn't afford it. I used to be able to afford insurance and I worked all that time.
Welcome to BO's new economy!!! The admin proclaims a recovery...the media proclaims a recovery...the Ozombies proclaim a recovery...yet, in the real world, there still aren't any good jobs.
Nice dodge, but it doesn't answer my question. You said it "started a long time ago" so you apparently know when it started. Please enlighten the rest of us with your knowledge.
Not a dodge Coin just a bit of truth. You'll probably call this a "dodge" too but I'll give you an honest answer. If I decided to waste a bunch of time gathering information that would then be deemed "left wing" you'd "pooh pooh" it anyway. Sorry I don't have that time. What I DO have is personal experience. Personal experience that millions of other Americans have. My wife and I are coming up on 25 years of marriage. She spent a lot of that time in the mortgage industry while I spent a lot of it at retail/store management level. One of us always had insurance that covered us both and was affordable. It was part of the package. That insurance got me through 2 extended hospital stays back then. Those "stays" were about 16 and 22 years ago. My last stay was five months ago. No insurance. Couldn't afford it. Other than being in the hospital and recovery time I have always worked. As has my wife. We're not lazy slobs looking for handouts. Never have been. Nope. we're just like millions of other hard working Americans that earn an honest wage. We see what has happened because we are there. Anyone that doesn't think this is a reality to millions is just a plain fool.
Well, I didn't ask for your biography, but thank you for sharing it with us nevertheless. However, you still haven't answered my question and, at this point, I'm assuming you don't want to.
I figured I'd get a reply like that. For me I'd have to say about 15 years ago. Is that good enough for you? Am I the only one? Can you answer those questions and maybe briefly touch upon why? I suppose if I just died that would have been fine with you. Sorry. I lived.
You mean asking for an honest answer? Yes, you figured correctly. 1999? During the Clinton administration. What did Clinton do to change things for you? I suppose it will have to do since you can't provide specifics. You stated that it "started a long time ago" so I thought that maybe you had some knowledge about the subject. I was simply asking you to enlighten the rest of us with what you knew. It was a simple question, but it's certainly gotten a round-about response, that's for sure! Now, clembo what makes you think that? I've never said anything of the kind nor even alluded to that. You and I don't always agree politically, but that comment troubles me deeply. I would never "have been fine" with that. Never.
This is only anecdotal, but I personally don't know anyone who has to pay more under ACA for the same or lessor coverage than they had before.
I gave you one Coin. Probably more honest than most answers given on this forum. I guess because it came from personal experience and we rarely see eye to eye for some reason, in your mind, it wasn't honest. I've already stated this. I've also stated I am not going to waste my time researching just when this happened. Yes. I gave an honest answer. Personal experience Coin unless you think I'm a liar. Do you? I have no reason to lie. I don't "live" on Partisan lines. Not enough time or interest. I'd be willing to bet that there are a LOT more honest cases like mine. I also stated that the chances of finding a job with affordable insurance are much less these days. I also stated that anyone that can't see that is a fool. I'll stand by that statement. Given that I stated it happened about 15 years ago you would be correct. Clinton did nothing for me basically. Nor did Bush Jr. What's your point man? Is it because he's a Democrat? If so....damn I've been saying I will vote for any candidate I deem worth voting for. Party doesn't matter and I mean it. Just so happens I DIDN'T vote for Clinton. I voted Republican in that election. I suppose it breaks down to "a long time ago". It was to me and I related a personal experience. I'll apologize for that Coin. It wasn't aimed at you. Aimed at a mindset is more like it.
