LOS ANGELES – People who are unable to complete health-insurance enrollment on HealthCare.gov by next Monday will receive an extension, the Washington Post reported late Tuesday, citing federal officials. Those who miss the March 31 deadline to get coverage "will have until about mid-April" to ask for more time, the report said. The extensions will be granted on an honor system, with the government not checking whether the person in question had begun the application process as required to receive the extra time, the report said. Rather, they will just need to check a blue box on their application to indicate that they attempted to enroll on time.
