Kaiser Family Foundation Poll: “Reflecting the sense that the debate has gone on long enough, more of the public would like to see Congress keep the law in place and work to improve it (49 percent) or keep it as is (10 percent) rather than repeal it and replace it with a Republican-sponsored alternative (11 percent) or repeal it outright (18 percent).” View attachment 2412
Debating the merits of the game after the game has ended serves no purpose. The ACA is now part of the culture of healthcare in this country and if you were hoping for a different outcome, sorry... You lost. Have a nice day anyway.
Insulting the winner of the game seems like someone here is a sore loser. And by "someone" I mean YOU.
Good afternoon, I am a staunch Republican, a self-proclaimed Fox News addict, and I didn't vote for the President. And I'm here to tell you that Obamacare works. I'm living proof. I'm a chemotherapy patient, and was previously paying $428 a month for my health coverage. I was not thrilled when it was cancelled. Then I submitted an application at HealthCare.gov. I looked at my options. And I signed up for a plan for $62 a month. It's the best health care I have ever had. So right now, here's what I want to tell anyone who still needs health insurance, or knows someone who does: Sign up. Follow the instructions on the website. Apply, and look at your options. You still have time, and take it from me: This is something you want to do. I wrote a letter to President Obama this past February to tell him about my experience with the Health Insurance Marketplace. I hoped he'd read it, and he did. I may not be a supporter of the President. But now, I get mad when I see Obamacare dragged through the mud on television. And even though I regularly tune in to conservative pundits, I'd like to tell them they're getting it wrong. Obamacare works. So one more time: If you still need health insurance, you have just three days to get it. Do what I did. Go to HealthCare.gov, submit an application, and pick a plan that works for you. It just might change your life. Mark D. Bearden, Ph.D. Monroe, North Carolina
MRC president Brent Bozell appeared Thursday night (as he often does) on “The Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel. The subject was this week’s MRC studies on Obamacare – the Rich Noyes study on the under-coverage of Obamacare, and the Geoffrey Dickens study on all the victims who’ve been ignored. Brent touched on how only CBS did one Saturday story on a four-year-old who was denied care under Obama’s alleged “signature achievement.” But he professed amazement about how a program so ambitious that the networks called it a “landmark” and “historic” when it passed is now getting buried by Brian, Diane, and Scott: [See video below. MP3 audio here.] BOZELL: Obamacare, one could argue when you nationalize one-sixth of the American economy, you're talking about the biggest domestic policy issue since arguably The New Deal of FDR. So what kind of coverage did they give this domestic policy issue in our lifetime? Between January 1st and March 24th, we looked at every single story on ABC, NBC, and CBS, believe it or not, the total amount of time devoted by ABC, NBC, and CBS to this story was .72% of their air time, less than three-quarters of one percent of air time they spent reporting on quote-unquote “news” was reporting on the results of Obamacare. When Brent laid out the astonishingly small amount of evening news coverage on the networks – just over five minutes on NBC, just under seven minutes on ABC, and a little more than 19 minutes on CBS – Kelly asked “Do you have an opinion in general of those three networks, which one you feel is the most fair and which one you feel is the least fair?” He said “Well, I don't think any of them are being fair at all. CBS is the least awful, but they're still awful.” Read more: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2014/03/28/brent-bozell-tells-megyn-kelly-about-tvs-obamacare-omission-cbs-least-aw#ixzz2xI69AIOj
Chuck Schumer was on the radio day, saying 6 million Obamacare sign-ups by 3/31 would be an indication of the laws success. But that struck me as odd. 6 million sign-ups = success? Weren't we told there were 17 million uninsured? A 36% participation rate = success? That's not even considering a large number of the 6 million are people who previously had insurance but were forced into the system when their insurance disappeared or many are illegals the administration is recruiting or that most were Medicare/Medicaid enrollees. If this deal is sooooo good, why aren't people knocking down the doors to enroll? Why are so many trying so hard to be granted an exception....and why are the folks responsible for pushing it on us so adament not to join?
No worries. Control of the Senate will probably be changing hands after the next election and then the Republicans in Congress will have the opportunity to toss the ACA on the garbage heap. I think that this is exactly what they won't do. Obama won't even get a chance to veto it since nothing of the sort will make it to his desk. They might try to mess with it a little. TP its yard. But they won't make any serious moves to get rid of it. Just a feeling.
I don't think it would ever get to that point. There would be some Bagger ideologues who'd probably go for it, but I don't think the majority would have the stomach for it. Too many risks involved.
No, they'll be paying for Bush's wars and tax cuts. The Obama stuff won't come up until probably a generation after that.
