I would still like to hear whether the lefties believe the administration's response was appropriate or not?
The journalist in the video said, "Metro had the order to shoot" if the people advanced and tried to take the cattle. It's a sad day when the American government stands ready to kill its own citizens over something like this.
Should the police be able to use physical force or fire upon someone who walks into an impound lot and attempts to remove their car?
I am always amazed, and I really shouldn't be at this point, that you Right wing flakes manage to consistently be on the wrong side of just about any issue. Keep up the consistency and I'll keep being a Democrat. I am even more convinced of the correctness of all that I believe every time you idiots post anything. As freshmeat correctly asserted, you guys are a complete waste of oxygen. The upside? At least we're going to hear a lot less about Benghazi now that FOX has a new cause du jour. The downside? We will have to listen to FOX's carnival barkers try to gin up a range war endlessly.
Do you think the response (the officers wih assault weapons & armored assault vehicles) we've seen from the BO administration is appropriate given the charges against Bundy?
I think when Bundy goes on the radio/TV and says that he doesn't recognize the Federal Government, he really loses all credibility. If I decide not to recognize the Federal Government and stop paying Federal taxes, should I be able to get away with it? Why does Bundy hate this country? He is happy to make money using our collective commons but is unwilling to help support the commons even though he personally has made a fortune living in this country. Regardless of your belief that Barack Obama is physically handing the Bureau of Land Management assault weapons and keys to armored vehicles, this has nothing to do with Obama. This started in 1993 and has continued for over 20 years. It is just a little silly to suddenly associate this with Obama but perhaps the word silly is just me being kind.
I don't support Bundy. He had his day in court & lost. There. Now, back to the question... Let's pretend for a moment that BO, as you claim, has nothing to do with this matter, do you think the government's response has been appropriate?
Absolutely perfect? They knew from working with this guy for 20 years what be believed because he said it in court rather often. You had these crazy militia members show up with automatic weapons and aimed them at the agents and state "we are willing to die here today for freedom" and then proceeded to use women and children as human shields, not because they were defending anything, but because they were the threat. When the agents decided to back down rather than shed blood, they absolutely made the right decision. Would you go into this part of the country without a weapon? Would you? You know that you wouldn't. You can't take a car trip with packing a gun. Why would Federal agents be any less prepared for potential violence given the history of all the groups involved and their own words? Answer me that.
I answered your question twice. Their response was absolutely perfect! (not ?) They absolutely made the right decision. How much clearer would you like me to be? Now how about you answer me? Given that the BLM knew what they were going to encounter, would YOU show up unarmed? See "protester" below. View attachment 2479
That's a false disingenuous statement and you know it. You can now answer my question. Would you go out to this part of the country unarmed? Would you? This is public property. Can I just show up and start mining it because I want to? Of course not. That would be stupid. Using any resource on public property whether it be grass, water, or sand, is still illegal. You can pay for the right to use these things but you cannot use them and refuse to pay.
It is not about grass. It is about an individual who has thumb his nose at the courts and a multitude of peaceful attempts by the Govt to settle this matter over the last 20 years.
Well, there you go again, confusing my questions for support of Bundy. Let me go slooowww and make it it simple.....I do not support Bundy! If he owes the federal gov't $1 million over a cattle grazing debt, he needs to pay. Plain & simple. Does a $1 million dispute rise to the level of calling in armored assault vehicles & risking the chance of escalating the dispute to the point where lives could be lost?
Ok, it's over money. Does putting lives at risk merit the response we've seen? I don't think it does. I think it's foolish to call out armed para-military forces to collect a court judgement.
It is also illegal for companies not to meet the Obamacare mandate. Illegal for undocumented alien to enter the country. Illegal for people to use/sell/charge pot anywhere in the US. Illegal for the Black Panthers to threaten voters with clubs. Illegal for the DOJ to ignore Congress' subpoena. Need I go on? Somehow the administrations response to any of these has been less than spectacular.
If the government wants to collect money from Bundy, they should place liens on his property/land/possessions. I don't think it's appropriate for an armed governmental force to try to strong-arm him into paying. If someone else doesn't pay their taxes (and it IS taxes, according to Harry Reid), will the IRS show up at their door with guns and try to force the person to pay? If this Bundy episode is any indication, the answer is "yes".
