from Hillary's website : To fulfill our promises to the nation's veterans, Hillary has proposed: Fully funding our veterans' health care system and providing intensive care for vets suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries. Reducing the red tape our wounded service members and veterans face. Increasing pay and benefits for our troops and their families. Expanding educational benefits for those who serve. Providing support and assistance for the children, spouses, and families of those troops who make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Hitleraly Clinton will say anything to get elected so she can push her own agenda. Karl Marx, anyone?
Jackson, not Wilson, was the last Dem to truly care about veterans and the military. Heck, Jackson even knew how to use the military properly (New Orleans in 1815, and South Carolina during the Nullification Crisis of the early 1830s) All Wilson cared about was getting elected (sound like any other Democrats you know?).
KLJ, that raises some interesting issues. Who cares about the grunt other than the fellow grunt crouched beside him? Answer? Not miz hillary and certainly not Mr. Catsoup. Read the first statement.
No politician realy cares until they need the troops or its voting time, how often after things quieten down do you see them pay more than lip service How many of your vet hospitals are underfunded? over here how many lads are just thrown on the scrapheap after service?
I don't know about veterans, but Hillary seems to have the pro-hooker vote all but locked up... http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/20/clinton.madam.endorsement/index.html Having Bill take a more active roll in the campaign seems to be paying off.
She would be better to veterns than Bush or whoever the Pubs run. Remember the VA is a social program NOT a military program, thus it is in the Dem category and Pubs hate it.
I believe the VA was created under Republican control of the Senate and House and with a Republican President. 1930 if you care to look it up. Remember the VA helps veterans of the military, thus it is in the Republican category and Dems hate it.
Neither party gives a damn about veterans once the war is over. I didn't see Republican jumping up and down fighting for veterans rights after Vietnam and the Democrats don't bother to pander to them since they vote Republican anyway, so who really looks out for them, Nobody! But if veterans want to believe that Republicans care about them once they are out of the service, I figure let them get the reward they have coming. Veterans get crapped on by both parties but can't seem to figure that out for themselves until it's too late. Then they are just angry.
It is not a part of the military, it is a SOCIAL program (meaning Democrats will do right by them and Pubs will screw them) that is the most basic fact of American politics.
Why do you assume Veterans can't look out for themselves? I haven't received or asked for anything from my government for my military service. Another Dem. scare tactic.
Well, for instance, the psychological help that you so badly need and aren't getting. I don't have to assume you need it, it's extremely obvious every time you post another anger ridden comment. Some people just have a problem recognizing their own needs and just so you don't attempt another ill-fated humorous reply, I'm referring to you.
He is correct in that the VA is a seperate Cabinet post from the Department of Defense. What Danr fails to point out - if he even knew it - is that the Defense Department is one of the largest spenders on social programs in the world and is the largest in the US. The DoD provides housing - either literally or an allowance - to every single active duty soldier, sailor, airman, and Marine and their dependents. They provide medical care to the same people. They provide schools, community programs, playgrounds, reduced cost groceries, and college and technical educations, to name just a few of the benefits provided. All the VA really provides is subsidized medical assistance (trust me, I know, I've dealt with them often enough). Which goes to another basic fact of American politics. A Democratic "category" (by Danr's definition) claims great credit for a little work, while a Republican "category" (again, by Danr's definition) does the heavy lifting without acknowledgement.
It helps veterans, it is a veteran's program (meaning Republicans will do right by them and Dems will screw them) that is the most basic fact of American politics.
