Associated press refuses to call Florida and Texas, while Fox is being very trigger happy on calling states.
As 21st century Americans, we are accustomed to have results right now. It appears we will be awaiting a few days for mail in ballots to be counted. I keep hearing that mail in voters are heavily weighted toward Biden. What would account for that? Why wouldn’t there be as many Trump mail in voters?
Because Trump has had little faith in Mail-In ballots, consistently accusing Mail-In subject to fraud and mismanagement, while Biden strongly supports mail in ballots.
Totally, which is why it's so significant that the USPS after claiming they lost 300000+ ballots in 15 states, refused to follow a court order to sweep their facilities for them and get them delivered. It's not that they couldn't, they declined to even try. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/11/03/election-ballot-delays-usps/ Here's a map of the lost ones: Interesting how that looks when compared to swing/light blue/light red states in general
That map was an estimate from a few weeks ago of how states historically have leaned. I was illustrating the missing ballots are concentrated around historically contested areas. For the most part, anyway
For the left leaning folks..... Are you more shocked or just disappointed that the blue wave didn't take hold?
Disappointed, but not totally surprised. We know Dems held the house, and I'm fairly confident that Biden will win. We'll have to wait on 2022 for the Senate. There's another batch of competitive Senate seats currently held by Republicans we can flip. If I'm disappointed in anything in particular, it's that Lindsey Graham pulled off a win.
The ad campaigns toward the end for Graham focused on the incredible amount of cash the Dems poured into the state in an effort to defeat him. It was an effective counter punch by Graham. Lindsay was a good target. South Carolinians by and large don't much care for the man and I am one of them. Harris was looking quite strong until they began running those advertisements showing the boatloads of cash the Dems were spending to unseat him. Most folks down this way found that to be more unappealing than Lindsay.
I am seriously ready to get past this. Trump just needs to bow out gracefully at this point. This whole thing is becoming a travesty.
He's not taking it well. For the record, I've been avoiding protests for covid/potential danger, but I will be in the streets if states get overturned by these lawsuits he's filing.
I don't see how that can happen. It was a close race and it's just time for the man to concede. Not what I wanted to happen, but darned if this nation hasn't had enough this year.
Dang Joe, are you becoming more centrist? I’ve been agreeing with things you say more than usual recently!
