    Hmmm...

Very interesting response but for starters you seem to have forgotten a little something in your quote of me. Allow me to finish it for you.

"regarding masks perhaps you should adopt a new slogan".

Now when the casual observer looks at our posts they will see a pattern developing. I made an observation and a comment whereas you launched into a personal attack.

Furthermore your personal attack was unfounded.

Assuming you are speaking about Biden and Harris please tell me where you learned that I supported them as I have not made any such mention that I did.
I have mentioned since I came back to Partisan Lines that I would have voted for my dog's farts before Trump and I proudly stand by that statement.

In essence what you are doing here is making unsubstantiated claims about me concerning unsubstantiated statements by you concerning Biden and Harris.
    I'll give you this much.
    You're consistent.

In the years I've been on Partisan Lines (yes, I really have although I took a few off) I've never felt it necessary to direct name call nor paint others as stupid.

Those individuals have always proven great at painting that picture themselves.

Okay, I apologize . . . please forgive me for that extrapolation.

I don't think your dog's farts could accomplish nearly what President Trump did, and I'm truly no fan of his. Still, I'm curious . . . do your dog's farts have a name that you were able to write in on the ballot? Are they at least 35 years old?

Did you not do so with your attempted lecture to conservatives about mask wearing in Japan exemplifying common courtesy absent in the United States?

    BINGO!!!
Do people have the right to infect others with a potentially deadly disease?
    I say no.

At this point it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Whereas HIV is generally spread through sexual relation Covid isn't. Although if you have Covid and are HIV positive as well you could give someone a double whammy!

Most people breathe during sex. However having sex is not a requirement for breathing.

Chew on that for a while folks.

You're right about not being able to accomplish what Trump did. We'd probably be in better shape with her farts.
Although pungent they're not nearly as deadly as Covid.

Didn't say I wrote them in on a ballot. Had I done so it would have been Tink's Farts.
As for age? She's 77 in people years and out of her mind at times.Just like Trump.
    ;)
Difference is she LOVES people. Doesn't matter who you are or what you believe.

Seems you do like to extrapolate.

My "attempted lecture" as you put it was to anyone that feels they don't have to wear a mask because they have "rights as an American".
I don't care if that person is Conservative, Liberal, Progressive name any group you want.

And yeas, I do feel many Americans lack the common courtesy that is present in Japanese culture.

In a prior post I said no too, to knowingly infecting someone. That requires foreknowledge of oneself being infected.

And just like the interested party who fears the unknown, and backs out of bedding down without a condom for fear of catching HIV, you have every right to stay home, or to go out suitably protected with your mask.

By the way, if you think your best defense is an infected person wearing a mask, it's not. Your better defense is you wearing the mask yourself. My earlier post describing positive and negative pressure on masks should be comforting to those who take the time to digest what is written there.

As do I, not because courtesy was never common in America, as you implied, but because common courtesy has eroded over several decades of liberal-supported self-indulgence.

    It's tough, which makes sense.

This from the CDC seems to imply there's some level of personal protection associated with mask wearing, but I'm not super confident in it.

This is good historical data and analysis but, as a retrospective without adequate protective controls, it cannot quantify the efficacy of defensive mask-wearing in order to compare it against that of mask wearing by the "broadcaster".

I'm smart enough to respect science and not dive into your idiotic fox news world. Masks work. This really shouldn't need to be explained to an adult. Were you home schooled?

My explanation of why surgical masks protect the people wearing them more than they protect others is based entirely on my own insights, and not derived from Fox News or any other source you'd like to denigrate.

I'm sure that comes as a shock to you. It seems all you know how to do is squander your life searching for the writings of others that you can copy / paste, instead of formulating original thoughts. You call that critical thinking? A child can do that effectively enough . . . can't you be more productive?

This is supposed to be a forum for discussion . . . not for demeaning quips. I admit to occasionally doing the same. When I do, I feel lured into it, and regret it afterward. Can't you just stop with the meaningless posts and take the time to actually write down your own thoughts?

I won't disagree with that but I also believe if everyone just had the decency to wear a mask when in public venues such as the grocery store it would definitely cut down on the spread of the virus.
I actually DO choose to stay at home as much as possible but when in public I gladly wear a mask and always carry hand sanitizer for my personal protection.
A problem with Covid is that it can be unwillingly and unknowingly spread.

I believe you're extrapolating here again. I don't see where you see me as having implied that Americans have never possessed common courtesy.
We certainly have and I don't see it's demise due to decades of liberal supported self-indulgence.
It's just an unfortunate change that has eroded in an increasingly volatile political environment.

Maniacs like Trump (not a liberal last time I checked) have only made the problem worse.
I don't see us as returning to a Leave it to Beaver or Father Knows Best environment anytime soon but there's still some hope.

On a side note an observation.
You seem intelligent to me and capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation.
However you also strike me as very angry and bitter. Particularly at anything remotely liberal.

It's not just liberals that have contributed to the state this country is currently in. Please consider that possibility.

I agree wholeheartedly, but mask-wearing must remain voluntary, and not become a mandatory requirement. I get very upset when I see someone who, rather than further distancing from someone not wearing a mask, instead opts to get close enough to physically attack them. That is politically motivated behavior . . . not defensive.

I quote from a prior post, "COMMON COURTESY. What a concept but apparently one that will never catch on the U.S"

My perspective is that common courtesy was ushered out with the Me Generation, in rebellion against the values of self-sacrifice with which they'd been raised by those who emerged from the Depression era. I converted from liberalism to conservatism during my college years and shortly thereafter, all because of the indulgences I observed being fostered in the university system. Liberals have opportunistically turned post secondary education into an incubator for behaviors of excess, and growth of their political power base. I view it as THE AMERICAN CANCER.

Trump has made bolder those who previously would not vocalize their sentiments. I dislike his style, but admire hm for many of his decisions, the handling of COVID aside. Nonetheless, Trump's tenure has been instrumental in conservatives realizing their voice was not irretrievably lost to the dominance of the media machine, and to vacuous bubble-gum-snapping pop culture figures.

    That can't come soon enough . . .

I'm certainly not a hard-line redneck, but your belief that there is underlying resentment is accurate. I believe I am emotionally intelligent and introspective, and will admit I have a chip on my shoulder.

I grew up underprivileged, undersized, and have always had to overachieve just to keep up. This required will and persistence, which taught me that all other able-bodied and able-minded citizens could be just as independent as I. It frustrates me to no end that so many instead opt to throw their hands in the air and ask the government to take up the slack.

As John F. Kennedy messaged to the nation when I was a mere infant, we should expect far more of ourselves, and far less of government.

There are two sides to every story . . . I know that. Still, my perspective remains that it is wrong to ask others to do for you what you can do for yourself.

    That will never change . . .

Have I been gone that long? My bad.

Anyway, yes there are a lot of people that take advantage of the system and always will be.
There are also a multitude that have the odds stacked against them.
I've seen it first hand in previous jobs I've worked.

As a matter of fact what I saw first hand took me from quite the Republican voting conservative to much more of a liberal.

Still, if a conservative does something that I think merits praise I openly applaud it.

Don't totally close your mind toughcoins. It obviously functions.
