    wow, this dumbassedness never stops

Why have some anti-vaccine conservatives decided to start taking horse deworming medicine to treat COVID-19?

NBC News' Ben Collins has written a lengthy Twitter thread outlining how many anti-vax conspiracy theorists have become convinced that ivermectin is the best way to treat COVID-19, and it's filled with head-spinning turns of illogic.

"First off, they really are eating horse dewormer," writes Collins, who spends much of his days monitoring conspiracy theory forums. "It tastes terrible. Some mix it into jam to eat it on toast."

Collins traces some of this phenomenon to America's Frontline Doctors, a fringe medical advocacy group that last year promoted hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.

"Antivaxx groups on Facebook and Reddit wanted ivermectin," Collins explains. "Doctors wouldn't prescribe it. Members did whack-a-mole with telehealth providers, trying to get doctors to sign off on scripts. But one reliably obliged: SpeakWithAnMD, who partners with… America's Frontline Doctors."

Once this group started offering up ivermectin, Collins writes, the situation "got out of hand fast."

"SpeakWithAnMD now hits you with a prompt warning of long wait times due to 'overwhelming demand,'" he writes. "Antivaxxers were worried about family members dying of COVID, and they were told ivermectin cured it. They were getting really impatient. Antivaxxers started imploring each other to go to pet stores, claiming the horse and people Ivermectin are the same. They started sharing tips on how to eat the gel kind. They started hoarding it."

Sheer stupidity leaps to mind but of course that's not fair so I'll offer some other possibilities.

    1) It's FTDA (Fred The Dumb Ass) approved.
    2) Well, my horse ain't got worms no more and that's good enough for me.
    3) It's a requirement for MENSA admission.
    4) I saw it on the internet.
    5) I'm an Americun and I got rahts!
    6) I'll show them Libruls!
    7) I'm demonstrating that a bag of hammers or a box of rocks actually CAN be smarter than a person.
    8) I saw it on Fox News.

Feel free to add your own.

It's a damn shame that horses may not get their meds because of these dolts. Especially when all parts of horses, mainly their asses, show greater intelligence than the folks depriving them of said meds.

No one ever suggested to use hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19. It was advocated as a prophylactic to fend off viral replication...

"The antimalarial agents chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine have been used widely for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. These compounds lead to improvement of clinical and laboratory parameters, but their slow onset of action distinguishes them from glucocorticoids and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory agents. Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine increase pH within intracellular vacuoles and alter processes such as protein degradation by acidic hydrolases in the lysosome, assembly of macromolecules in the endosomes, and posttranslation modification of proteins in the Golgi apparatus. It is proposed that the antirheumatic properties of these compounds results from their interference with "antigen processing" in macrophages and other antigen-presenting cells. Acidic cytoplasmic compartments are required for the antigenic protein to be digested and for the peptides to assemble with the alpha and beta chains of MHC class II proteins. As a result, antimalarials diminish the formation of peptide-MHC protein complexes required to stimulate CD4+ T cells and result in down-regulation of the immune response against autoantigenic peptides. Because this mechanism differs from other antirheumatic drugs, antimalarials are well suited to complement these other compounds in combination drug therapy."

That is the type of discussion interaction that is useless, and is not supportive of a conversation for or against.

You know you are taking the word "treat" out of context. The member clearly and deliberately presented the difference... as he understands the difference.... between "treat" and "prophylactic". You can understand this. As an example, which word would you use to describe medication or a treatment designed and used to prevent a disease from occurring: treatment or prophylactic? Don't google, because this is simply an exercise to reflect on conversational approach without judgement, or using a single word to declare a wining position in the High School Debate.

A 2nd exercise and example is the game set match level of willingness to present the name Trump in support of your posit that someone did suggest using whatever is the focal point of the statement, in this case hydroxychloroquine. You imply by reference that the persons using a dewormer prepared and prescribed for use in animals, are doing so because a previous POTUS did so and "told" them to do so.

Factoid: the previous POTUS was under the care and treatment modality supervision of a licensed MD. 7, to be exact, at the time of the use of the drug in question, and this Team of qualified physicians concurred in the trial use.

Factoid: There is no resemblance in the content/quality/quantity/proper qualified MD/DO/NP/CRNP/DVM prescribing criteria and written instructions, between the 2 drugs being discussed.

Factoid: People are stupid. People don't take the time to listen/read/ask wonder why they do something or say something or react accordingly, because, people are creatures of biological formed impulse. All the person knows is some ancient long ago genetic fornicator made a cell that was forced to get married to another cell in order to survive and fulfill the one obligation of a living organism: DO what is necessary to survive and WIN!

We align ourselves with what seems a plausible choice based on the birth of all those cells that were the result of biological fornicating, and the cul-de-sac has a brain sign flashing (in your case) Trump!!!

Ergo, you don't care for the previous POTUS, and any avenue that does not have traffic lights or a speed limit engages that primal survival instinct and WHAM! HE DID IT.

    No. Just No.

That was a Charley Talks episode. I think Charley Talks are much better than Ted Talks.

Then again, I am...wait....old, and...wait....my mind wanders. I forgot my left sock. I then remembered that I didn't really forget it, I left it off because I was going to type a Charley Talks episode with my hallux.

I didn't do so, because I forgot to.

This post is an addendum to the previous Charley Talks episode. I will close with: Horses are OK.

I just did a quick review of the main page. There are twenty threads displayed. Of those, thirteen are threads like this one and contain all the sustenance of a slice of chocolate cake. Tastes good if you are a chocolate cake lover, but is void of anything useful. I rather have become of the opinion that this is how the liberal mind works. 30% substance and 70% chocolate cake.... After all it is all about me, right?

The real problem Charley is you don't like it. Facts are not your friend.

...how to play Keep One/Drop one on Coin Talk.

Makes it hard to take anything you say seriously or that a lucid person typed it.

Fair enough. I appreciate your effort to support and enhance my position and thoughts, by posting another example of a useless non-supportive non- interactive for or against post. It is a fact, that you did so.

It is interesting to contemplate the genetic fornication that produced the cells that gave birth to the threads, and how they developed into a single living entity that is the parent of those threads.

(C'mon, now....that was pretty good. let me see those "Likes" multiply).

Facts meet wall. We'll talk about a-a-a-a-a-a-a-nyhing else if it isn't the topic of the thread.

I would sue Fox's ass off if I were stupid enough to take this horse dewormer.

I don't think you understand the legal basis required for such a lawsuit.
However, your words, as usual, when shouted out loud, have the sound of ....Victory.

I'm sorry...I just can't watch "Blinky", anymore. Can't you find any reference other than..."it"?

What about the four Fox hosts? What about the CDC? What about the WHO? What about the company that actually sells the horse deworming product? Seems like you decided to take this approach.

I am getting the feeling my fellow member JoeNation doesn't like me anymore. He has not had a snapy comeback to put me in my place and be condescending to me since my first few posts.

Oh well. I need a sympathy hug from everybody. I feel bad, that I haven't exhibited the ability to extend empathy toward your posts, JoeNation, and I'm sorry.

I am being emphatic about being empathic toward your suffering because of my posts.

This is the first I've ever heard of "horse deworming"...whatever. What's the issue?

I don't watch such things, JoeNation. I do not have any use for emotional claptrap designed to separate and divide my fellow Americans. I do watch BBC, Seoul Now, and the early 4:45 AM Farm Report, and PBS.

Honestly though.... This seems much like a person smoking cigarettes for thirty years and then wanting to sue the tobacco companies for his lung cancer..... If smoking makes your life more enjoyable, hey man the pursuit of happiness is every Americans right...... If animal pharmaceuticals are your cup of tea, you are a blithering idiot (unless you are a yak), but it is your right the way I see it.
