So, biden unconstitutionally tried to forgive student loans, but a federal judge in Texas has blocked the attempt. Of course, we all know that biden tried this shuffle in order to garner votes in the midterm. And guess what? It worked. But...... now people are seeing through the shenanigans and they aren't happy about it. My question to all these idiots who believed biden is "Didn't you see what he was doing"? It amazes me that liberals can be so stupid. Well, no it really doesn't. They ARE liberals, after all.
The two plaintiffs, or the two people with "standing", are people with student loans. One person has a private loan and is therefore ineligible for loan forgiveness and the other is eligible for $10,000 in loan forgiveness but not $20,000 because he didn't receive a Pell Grant. Yeah, this Trump appoint Texas judge is simply playing politics. This will get tossed pretty quickly. As to your silly and frankly obtuse conclusion that Biden just did this to garner votes in the Midterms, you might want to go back a few years where Biden and the Democrats have been promising some type of student loan forgiveness for quite some time. It hardly just sprung up out of nowhere just before the Midterms. And even if Biden was trying to give tens of thousands of people relief from crushing student loan debt, even if it was to get people to vote for the Democratic platform, that is exactly what we elect these people to do. He is basically keeping another campaign promise to his constituents AND even those who aren't his constituents. How is this a bad thing? Biden has kept so many of his promises unlike Trump. Trump never even attempted to pass an infrastructure bill, he never built his silly wall, he never even tried to come up with a health care alternative to the ACA, he couldn't even bring down the deficit or get close to the 3% growth he promised. He was a total failure. Biden has made good on nearly everyone of his campaign promises. That's why you hate him so much. He is an effective leader and Trump was a one term loser that lied to you, stole national secrets, and fomented a riot at the Nation's Capitol. What standing do you even have complaining about anything loser boy?
I don't have a problem with biden utilizing the legislative process in an attempt to achieve his goals. However, the federal judge has ruled what biden did unconstitutional. Who exactly controls the power of the purse in this country anyway?
So, your real complaint is with the use of the executive order? Count how many times Trump used executive orders that didn't seem to bother you at all.
I'm not going to play your little "whataboutism" game. The problem that I have is that biden should have gone through the Congress regarding monetary matters instead of issuing an unconstitutional edict which is not standing up in court.
Leftist only care about the law If an edict is something they don’t agree with. To hell with law if they disagree. Prime examples, crime, immigration, election laws, abortion, and forgiveness of a promissory note that is inconvenient.
Theodore is at it again. His IGNORANCE IS OUTSTANDING and it allows him to post this nonsense: JoeNation, posted: "]The two plaintiffs, or the two people with "standing", are people with student loans. The president has no authority to pay my mortgage either. 4. Freebies make people "soft." They already are "soft" enough and "feel" (your ilk knows all about feelings running down your legs) entitled to be taken care of. "Biden has kept so many of his promises unlike Trump. It's the IGNORANT LOSER'S WAY to avoid confrontation.] I don't have any more time to respond to the rest of this IGNORANT nonsense. It makes me look foolish. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I have to ask one question…… Are we sending the right message to young folks? When we relive them of this financial burden then who will be there when they max out their credit cards?…. I just don’t think you set young people up for future success when you fix their problems for them.
G'mornin MD, Did you mean, I just don’t think you set young people up for future success when you fix their problems for them?
This has nothing to do with Executive Orders JN. Presidents do not determine how much, if any more money goes into the budget. You can't just add programs needing more money. If Congress doesn't put more money on the table, then what money Congress has approved for expenditure is what the President and his administration have to work with . . . period.
Title of thread, "The Student Loan Forgiveness Shuffle" is too many words . . . More appropriately expressed as Bribery.
The root cause of this problem is not students in debt . . . that's the symptom. You want to fix the problem Jobie? . . . Make university systems guarantee the loans of students they are billing for their services. Then, and only then would they finally have skin in the game. Not only would universities dispense with education not central to the student's career goals, but they would also imbue in students a stronger work ethic, and teach them that employment is a privilege and not a birthright.
I think what you're forgetting is that $10,000 is a drop in the bucket compared to what some of these young, middled aged, and older adults owe. Yes, it isn't just young people, Parent Plus loans are made to older working adults and retirees for their children and grandchildren. The average student loan debt is around $30,000. $10,000 isn't going to go a long way towards paying off many of these people's debts. However, the interest they pay over the course of paying the rest of their debt, almost completely erases the $10,000 deduction. Think about it. If you take out a long-term loan, say 10 years or more, at an interest rate of 5-7 percent, you pay nearly 10,000 in interest over the life of the loan. Now, it depends on your interest rate and the length of the loan, but aren't we really just talking about forgiving the interest and not the principle here? Even if they only owe $10,000 on their loans after years of payments, they would have almost certainly paid thousands in interest already. What I can't figure out is why the entire GOP is against helping tens of thousands of bright hardworking high value college educated working adults? They contribute more to society than any silly small business ever could. You didn't seem to mind your small business loans during the pandemic that were forgiven. Didn't see the GOP come out against those. 11.5 million PPP loans were forgiven, and the GOP didn't file any lawsuits.

This entire paragraph may make you feel good and knowledgeable but it has nothing to do with anything because it is not their money and our Constitution does not give a POTUS the power to bribe young debtors. There are no "feel good" policies in the Constitution EXCEPT everything the do-good snowflakes make up over the years like the "Right" to medical care, the "Right" to housing, the "Right" to food, the "Right" to a living wage, the "Right" to social Security/Medicare, the "Right" to be IGNORANT, and the "Right" to lie. The "Right" to lie is in the Constitution. What I can't figure out is why the entire GOP is against helping tens of thousands of bright hardworking high value college educated working adults? Look…. Keep one thing in mind. You are talking with a fellow that has dedicated his life to the betterment of young lives. It is something I believe in and dedicate many hours and personal finances towards. It isn’t a concept that I need to be sold on….. And for the record, I believe higher education should be a goal that any young person should have access to and it astounds me that it is so unbelievably costly in this day and age. But that is where we are… Look, we all help our kids get a step up in this world. Some of us fix our kids problems. I happen to think that fixing your kids problems handicaps them to a degree. If my kid buys a new car with $1500.00 a month payments that I know he can’t possibly manage, I’m not going to fix that for him and he will learn the hard way to make sound decisions. If he buys a $5000.00 used car that needs tires, I’ll get him tires because he used good judgment……. I see this much the same. We won’t be here forever to fix these young peoples problems and they have to learn that lesson. Now, your tirade about lawsuits and PPP loans and such is just that. A tirade. I didn’t partake of that but wasn’t PPP set out as a pre-forgiven loan provided you kept your workers? Something to keep employers liquid enough to keep people on the payroll instead of on unemployment? If I remember correctly, the whole deal was the loan was forgiven provided you keep paying the staff, otherwise it was simply a loan. I don’t remember, but I believe that was the basis of the deal…… Either way, I don’t think two and two make four in this analogy.
biden was wrong all along. The Supreme Court said so. This is yet another campaign promise that will go unfulfilled by biden. Hoooda thunk? Supreme Court rules against Biden student loan debt handout Supreme Court decision blocks Biden administration's student loan debt plan that was estimated to cost taxpayers $400B June 30, 2023 The Supreme Court ruled Friday that the Biden administration cannot go forward with its student loan debt handout program. In a 6-3 decision, the court held that federal law does not allow the secretary of education to cancel more than $430 billion in student loan debt. "The Secretary’s plan canceled roughly $430 billion of federal student loan balances, completely erasing the debts of 20 million borrowers and lowering the median amount owed by the other 23 million from $29,400 to $13,600," Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority. "Six States sued, arguing that the HEROES Act does not authorize the loan cancellation plan. We agree." President Biden strongly disagreed with the court's decision and will make an announcement later Friday detailing new actions to protect student loan borrowers, a White House source told Fox News Digital.
