These people are playing a dangerous game. The Electoral College (or Electorial College as @JoeNation calls it) was established for very good reasons. Abolishing or side-stepping it will cause disastrous consequences.
The agreement doesn't go into effect until State membership accounts for 270 electoral votes. Once they reach the 270 goal; I wonder what happens there forward if membership ever falls below the mark.

I guess you forget that both the people and the states are represented proportionately, not merely the people.
Better represented... by whom? The coastal majorities who are predominantly blue? Spread the wealth, man! I don't believe the entire country is well-represented by a few states who have disproportionately large populations. Thankfully, the Founding Fathers believed the same and created the Electoral College in order to give a voice to less-populated states.

The very reason a One-World government cannot possibly succeed . . . regional needs varying so considerably, preventing a one-size-fits-all solution from meeting all needs. . . is the reason our United States are intended to be the primary governing structures in this nation, and the federal government is intended only to resolve disputes between them, and with other nations. Central governments are not effective governing entities . . . They are power centers.
Just some thoughts on this, I've been seeing chatter from pollsters about how the electoral college has been slowly moving towards favoring Democrats, and it's not inconceivable we could soon see an election where they win the college but lose the popular vote. When/if that happens, I will still support abolishing the electoral college. For a singular leader like president, I think majority rule makes the most sense. The best place that state interests are balanced is the Senate, where they all have equal say.
