    Just a couple of questions:
    1) Why do the dems put so much emphasis on & honor the "hard-working" backgrounds & struggles faced by Obama's family, Michelle's family & Biden's family but push for a nanny state? It's impressive that Obama was raised by a single parent and that Michelle's father battled MS and worked 2 jobs to make ends meet- it worked extremely well in their cases. So why isn't hard work, preserverance & self-reliance the path they preach? I just don't get it. If getting up earlier and working harder were the keys to their families success why do they push entitlements that keep people in poverty & take away their motivation to succeed? From the stories they have told, no one in their families ever asked for a hand out or looked to the government for answers? Why do they espouse the free ride so heartily?

    2) The 3 people who got the most camera time last night were Ted Kennedy, John Kerry & Joe Biden. 3 old rich white East Coast liberals...where's the change in that? Hope? They hope the focus stays on McCains houses & not their palaces. 30, 40 years as a Washington insiders? How can a bunch of wealthy Ivy League silver-spooners who have never worked a day in their life even begin to claim they know what is good for the middle class?

Finally, I don't know if Michelle slipped or not, I found her statement about "making the world the way it should be" pretty interesting? Why focus on the world, as Prez the US should be the most immediate focus, right? The way it should be, according to whom?

What a waste of useless TV broadcasting to play all that effluent for the masses.

Lets look at the present President perhaps he should focus more on the US then rather than on the world stage, how about the one before him and on and on? David I think you need to realise that America is a World Player and not some little tin pot republic. Actualy alonside China America is the Largest of the players, why shoudnt they comment on world issues and try to make it a safer world for all? dont you want that, I know I do.
Now on to the next bit If Obama had got all the coverage you would have complained about that LOL Kennerdy he gets it because he is possibly dying and says he made this trip specialy, Bidden as he is the running mate, have to admit though I have no idea why Kerry got in ther limelight LOL
Now you complained about Obamas plans for change in the past so when he surounds himself with the old guard you complain again LOL No pleasing you is there :D
And I suppose the Republican party is made up of working class stiffs who made it to the top without any family help LOL

I fell asleep after work last night and missed it, no biggie. But I will be sure to watch Hillary tonight, that should be interesting.

I hear that they celebrated the life of the drunken murderer Ted Kennedy as well? Hmmmmm, I wonder how the Kopechne family felt about that? Did Mary Jo make an appearance? Probably not huh?

Conventions are designed to unite the party and sway the undecided, so we can expect to see both lie alot, take it all with a grain of salt. Unless your mind is empty enough to be fooled by either party into voting for them based on the coinventions, just watch it as entertainment.

EDIT: Coinvention was a typo. LOL, a Fruedien slip !!!!!!

The only thing I have read is that the Dems are still trying to run against President Bush. Maybe they don't know he isn't running or maybe they just think the 3rd times a charm. ;)

    LOL
The DEms keep calling McCain as Bush 3. They don't understand that so many republicans dislike him because he spent 8 years F'ing with Bush as every chance?

I think the commonality is just the strength he shows on the war against terrorism. Heck, some ( most Dems ) call America the terrorists.

Back to the convention. YUK, I just saw our AZ gov speaking. Don't laugh, she might just be our next Attorney General.

Inasmuch as he can, McCain is doing everything he can to distance himself from Bush. He is in a tough position, it is tough to criticise a fellow Republican, even if that Republican is more of a fool than anything.

What do you think was going through Hillary's (and Bill's) mind last night as she was delivering that speech? She sounded sincere but you know she was thinking that, if Obama wins, her chances of ever being Prez are gone for good. If Obama wins & gives a good performance, he will be re-elected...if he wins & doesn't perform well then the door is wide open for the Repubs in 2012...after that she will be way too old. Her only hope is for McCain to win.

I'll bet if she had it to do over again, she would choose to run for the Senate seat in Ill rather than NY. I guess that one backfired on 'em.

It will probably go out the window with the wash if he is elected, but I have read that Michelle Obama made him promise to only be president for 4 years and not 8. Maybe Barack and Hillary cut a deal, who knows? Stranger things have happened in politics.

The fact of the matter is this, Hillary got edged out by Obama. For better or worse. I dislike her platform, but even her opposition in the US Senate cannot come up with any real negatives on her. You may not like her politics and what she stands for, but she is a determined and driven individual with a proven track record of legislation etc. in the Senate. What can you say for Obama other than as McCain paints him? He is a celebrity like Paris and Britney. I cannot name one single piece of legislation he has had in his paws.

At least with McCain and Hillary you know what their track records are, I have known of McCain since he first came to the fore in politics when I was in High School. You couldn't escape from Hillary even if you tried in 1992-1993. If anything I think she has tamed a bit, too bad she cannot get her spouse to shut his flapper a bit more often though.

At least the Republicrats have a seasoned candidate that is a known quantity, cannot say the same for the Democlans in this election.

At least John wasn't a draft evading ANG AWOL like you know who. I think it should be a prerequisite for any candidate that he or she should have served honourably in the active military services, and not sloughing off in the ANG on the weekend, or protesting in Moscow like Billary did in 1969.

I watched about 1/2 of Hillary and listened to the end on radio.

One thing I noticed, and my wife perked right up, was Hillary was a Proud mother, Senator, American etc etc, but NOT a proud Husband. She never even acknowledged the marraige. She referred to him as " President Clinton" like a distant colleague of sorts.....

Also, I noticed Mrs O and her NASTY looks at Hillary, LOL, you think there is some Queen Bee syndrome thingy?

Obama has suffered a 3 point drop since the Biden announcement. The air is coming out of the blowup doll, the wheels are coming off. There is nothing but hype, and America is noticing that.

Lets see if the Repos can have a convention just as un-inspiring and flat.

Conventions are supposed to provide " bounce " and " juice " to a candidate, not a drop. The world tour was to provide a bump....it has fallen steady since. Tom Brokaw was even busted yesterday using 2 week old polling data that showed O with a point or two lead, ignoring the most current 1 point lead by McCain.

Listen to the 2 experts, far more knowledgable than any of us, James Carville and Dick Morris. 2 brilliant political minds. Throw Rove in there as well if you can stand him.

I also thought it was funny, in Hillary's little intro film, when Bill was featured it simply id'd him as "Hillary's husband".

By the way, there are 2 people on Fox that I can't stand to watch- Dick Morris & Frank Luntz.

Why will Hillary be too old in 2016? what is she now 61 so in 8 years time she will be a sprightly 69, how old is John McCain now? 72 I believe :D

John McCain has aspired to the presidency for quite some time also, he was mentioned as a potential candidate as early as 1992. Actually it was a bit of a surprise after so many prior attempts that he got the nod this time.
