    Oh no, no, no, noooo!

Campaign promise: To make sure every American citizen has health care. Meaning free, government run health care (without raising taxes of course). This is what the uninformed cheered about. (I say uninformed because they're assuming the government can afford the social programs we already have in existence which is totally false. Nationalized health care certainly a nice idea. Just not feasible in our wildest dreams.)

Action taken: Paved way for European style formula to control whether or not you are allowed to receive care in your old age and a huge new bureaucratic system that decides things for you, instead of you and your doctor deciding.

That was NOT a campaign promise. Quite on the contrary, it would have been political suicide to come out and say that!!! So don't try to act like people expected this or know about it even now.

I say maybe it needed to be done. But I'm just one opinion. If my opinion mattered that much, Obama wouldn't have been elected to dog catcher. The senior votes he would have lost would have cost him the election if people were allowed to know about this plan. But, it's over now.

Then, are you implying that now that he has spent all this money, he's shown he's done something and people should be happy? The problem is, they tried bailouts and stimulus checks. They didn't make a dent. Now we're trying it again on steroids.

The next problem is, if you'll notice, the bailouts aren't working. Again. GM got 30 billion and they had 120 days to submit a restructuring plan or the government could recall the loan and force them into bankruptcy.

120 days blew by. Restructuring plan didn't get done. Government did nothing. They've burned through it all and are on the verge of Chapter 11 if they don't get another 7 billion soon.
Insurance giant AIG just got paid another 30 billion on top of what they already got. It's throwing money down a rat hole. Good money chasing bad. Look at the share prices of these banks that got bailouts! They're still in the tank and getting worse.

Then he just threw 75 billion dollars out on the side to help people who made bad decision and bought homes they could not afford. That'll last a few months and that will be gone. But yet, it will never really be paid for.

I don't think any of the big 3 car makers are going to make it. And a lot of banks are going to fail through 2010. The head of the FDIC came out yesterday and said they were going to have to raise fees on banks or else the fund that insures people's accounts may go insolvent this year! That's not a media personality making this up. That's straight from the top. If they don't raise fees on banks, FDIC's funds will approach zero this year or maybe even go negative. Then what?

So you see, we blew all this tax payer money and places are going under anyway. That's what people are pissed about. We should have just let them go because it's coming anyway.

I'll be shocked if Chrysler and GM are still in existence in 2010. The loan bailouts they got don't look like they'll be getting paid back this time. The big banks and insurance companies, well, that was just free money they gave themselves. That's long gone. The rich got cradled with tax dollars and I'm sure most of them ran with it and have put this economic mess behind them.

Then Obama has the gull to come out and say they're going to monitor every penny spent so not a single thin dime goes to waste! LMAO!! Do we think another 30 billion to AIG (who just lost 60 billion) is a good investment and not wasteful!?

He's spending billions like it's going out for dinner. This administration doesn't seem to get concerned until they're spending over a trillion now. Another 3 years and 9 months of this will be irreversible damage. We'll see how happy people are with him after another 3 years of this.

Oh come on be fair you say this administration is spending it yet which administration started the bail out? it matters not which lot are in they would have all done exactly the same, this economic decline began quite some time prior to Obamas election, he is now picking up the pieces. If he does nothing he is hung for it, if he does something he is hung for it.
    What alternatives are there?
If you let the motor industry fail what is the fall job wise? and dont forget to add to that all those who are also going to loose out who service the big industries Same goes for the Banks and Insurers. Can America afford that sort of collapse?
So once again what exactly is he suppose to do?

David. Why did you slam me for quoting Jerry Garcia? You wrote something like a drugged up loser or something. And yet you just posted that you listen to Rush Limburger frequently. Why isnt he a drugged up loser too? Never mind, dont try to explain. I know why you think there is a difference. and by the way, that Rush guy has gotten much fatter recently. His jacket could be used as a big top for the Clyde- Beatty Circus. GF means girlfriend. I guess that means some guys here think you sit at home and watch The Andy Griffith Show. PSSSTT! Thats a Martin Lawrence reference for masturbate. Still bored?

Craig, he wouldn't know a GF if one came up and bit it in the bum. And yes, drugged up, and thrice divorced Rush Limburger has gotten fatter recently - all the publicity has fattened his bank account and apparently his larder. Maybe he is trying to out pork his love buddy, Michael Moore.

I am being fair. Just keep in mind how fast Obama was brought into the loop. Once the election was over, he was in there helping make decisions before he was inaugurated. He had a hand in it. I agree Bush may have started it but after that was done and the results were found to be poor, Obama has continued it to extremes.

I understand he's screwed no matter what he does. But you say we can't let the big 3 automakers fail or these banks or insurance companies fail. The problem is, we've done all we can for them and they're still failing. Everybody knows it will be devastating to the US economy if they go under. But the government can't afford to bail them out every year to keep them in existence. And they shouldn't have to! That's not how this system works.

What alternatives are there? Well, if these places are going to fail you can throw billions of tax dollars after them to delay their collapse or don't send them anything. We already tried the first option so now the only certainty is that taxpayers are on the hook.

I'd have no problem with the bailouts if there was even an ounce of optimism about these places making it. I'd like to see some type of real chance or real plan. Notice I didn't even say proof.
They don't have anything. All the media outlets are referring to this as a gamble. So we gambled with trillions and could lose these companies anyway. Did the government act responsibly?

No, America can't afford this kind of collapse but it's happening. Things could be getting very bad for a long time. There's a good chance that nothing the government can do will fix it. That doesn't mean they won't spend trillions and if the market does eventually correct itself, try to take credit for it.
If it doesn't? Well, woops! I guess we were wrong! Later generations can take care of our mess and that's assuming they won't ever have a mess of their own at that time.

I am of the opinion that it would be more constructive to just flush all those billions and trillions down the cr&pper than pump them into banks. Why don't they just send every fool in America a check for $50000 with the provision they have to spend it within 30 days or it goes back. It would have more effect than sending all that money down the toilet like they presently are.

I would buy a couple of more cars, even GM or Ford, if they would send me that dough.

I am presently looking for a bigger house - not an easy task in my part of the country where the market has sucked for years.

I don't think I've ever said I listen to Limbaugh frequently- I don't...truth is, I don't have the luxury of sitting around & listening to the radio all day. What I have said is that his message usually makes sense but it is often times missed due to his over-the-top delivery.
Oh yeah, the GF shorthand & Martin Lawrence references? They are of no consequence to me...I could care less...but my kids have introduced me to one abbreviation that is appropriate to both you & scottishmoney/jwevansv- GAL, as in "get a life". These masterbating references that you two are so hung up on is really disturbing, I would think a moderator would be putting an end to them.

I agree. But then that wouldn't allow the politicians to spend the money as they saw fit.

Just the last stimulus bill was enough money to where they could have cut every worker's federal taxes and social security with holdings 100% from January through August. Think how much money that would have immediately put in people's pockets to spend everywhere. That might have actually been a real jump start.
Instead, the people get $400 a piece, spread out over several months so it will be barely noticeable. The rest gets handed over to the rich to spend as they see fit without regulation. It's sad how much is riding on such a plan.

Well with the auto industry the bailout could be given on the proviso that they begin immidiate restructuring and updating there technology, at least that way you might still have a auto maker! Banks/insurers get rid of the guy's at the top with no bonuses or pay off no stock options and promote those who have shown that they can make a profit without taking stupid risks. Start a Goverment sponserd public works programe to rebiuld the roads and bridges and any other infrastructure that needs doing, this will in itself create spending and regenerate industry. Those who refuse to work get nothing, those who do work get paid a decent wage.
Just a few thoughts, but perhaps they are too marxist :D

My mistake. It was your post that got me confused. PAGE FOUR THIRD POST DOWN. Thought that was you and not a quote. So many quotes in that post. If you dont listen to him, then how do you know that the things he says make sense? and get over the Andy Griffith show it was a joke. Jeez you are a conservative. But i see you didnt comment on his drug addiction the way you slammed Garcia's

Here, just so you can get some sleep...I will listen if I have the opportunity but I don't get enough opportunities during that time of the day to be able to listen regularly. Satisfied? As far as him being a drug addict? I don't care, he is of no consequence to me. I will point out though that he doesn't seem to be glorifying and promoting drug abuse in his words & lifestyle as you know who did.

He is a fine example of someone that should not be opening their mouth though. Canna the Republicans come up with a better and more wholesome mouthpiece than drug abusing, thrice married and divorced, bombastic Rush Limbaugh?
